Don't forget the CBA. Your rights under the CBA start on DAY 1.

Remember the pecking order: FAR, CBA, FOM.

Know 'em, Love 'em, Fly 'em.

I think "they" bank on newhire NOT knowing their rights sometimes. Actually they laugh all the way to the bank.

Study, study, study! Good luck. I know for myself, I like to have a little info a couple weeks before. Just the Memory Items, Limitations, and Profiles. I try not to overload before class.
No need to overload. Not a person has not gotten through FSI. Too much money at stake. Can you imagine if Buffet had to report FSI failures? LOL. Your union will protect you in any case.

I guess it is time for those P2P jokers to step up!

Really?? I personally witnessed a guy wash out of DA20 initial. And he was on a full service contract. Wouldn't THAT be the person they would not "want" to fail because of cash in your scenario?

You also seem to enjoy chiming in on a variety of threads with your dribble about this and that...the union thing especially? What is it that you do exactly? Flying wise that is...Regional, National, Major, Fractional. I'm just asking because you post in all of 'em and appear to know it "all".

its a inside joke on the regionals side

That explains the memos from Gary...
Leave the backpacks and hairgel at home.
Seriously now, don't sweat it. You biggest fight will be staying awake in indoc. Now THAT'S some exciting stuff there.

They REALLY don't want you to fail. IMHO, they give every chance to pass. However, there are extreme examples when guys don't cut it for whatever reason and wash out.

You are absolutely correct. THEY didn't fail him, HE failed himself. He never showed command of the aircraft...never had a clue where he was in space. IMHO the guy probably shouldn't be flying.

I don't have any specifics in the individual in question, so I'm not going to comment on it. All I know is that they give you every oppertunity to do well even with the training department in the state of affairs it is in right now.

This seems like an appropriate thread to hijack.

Starting class at NJA on May 7. I just got my study CD in the mail yesterday. It has the info for the Ultra and the Encore. Up to this point, the only aircraft mentioned that I'll be flying is the Ultra. Do the Ultra guys fly both models? Just curious if I should be studying for both planes. If so, is there differences training after the type?

Thanks.

When the Encore was introduced, crews flew both; that's no longer the case. If you're assigned the Ultra, that's all you need to study.

Just received mine. Question, on my initial welcome letter it has me in the HS-800XP. I received a CD with both the Honewell setup and the Collins on it, the FMS CD is for the Collins setup. Is it the same CD for both? Isn't the ident for the Collins 800XP-C? I was planning on giving them a call on Mon. but I'd ask the experts first. ;) Thanks

Really??? Hmm... Maybe you should tell that to to three guys who washed out of FSI during my intial training years ago in the Ultra.

Jonjuan, honestly, post about things you know about, not things you don't have a clue about.

Does FSI want to fail you NO, does it happen. Yes. Do people get washed out of NJA because of poor sim evals, you bet.
