No, just a sh!tty job. But he does get to tell the bartender that he "flies" a 727.

Why is it in this day and age of our industry do you have to ask why it would take time to upgrade. Have you ever worked for Astar or are you just a Pax haulin puke who thinks he knows it all.

Why exactly would you call 100k a year and 14 off a month a bad gig??? I would love to know this.

So, I'll assume by your frame of mind that YOU would be that much of "TOOLBAG" that YOU ACTUALLY WOULD tell anyone "wow look at me I'm a pilot and I fly an airbus 320". To each his own I guess.

HAP

hmmmm sounds like you might be an ex astar employee or currently work there and don't like people talking about freight hauling. Yes yes we know work at night boxes are fun I got it.

A pax haulin puke. Yup you've got the freightdog shirt and everything. Sounds like anger managment is in your future..... or at least laying off the coffee.

LOL......Hey Diesel, sorry to hear about your "compensating" problem......there are pills and devices to help you out.

That's too funny...I'm going to get some mileage out of this one.....

I know Hap really got me on that one. You know what they say though those who make jokes about it are really trying to cover up for their own shortcomings.

I'm sure next he'll be talking about more revelent subjects like the 1940's and flying the sopwith camel.

That guys that started this thread, iwasmehowhesgon, must think it is not too good, since he is looking for a new job.

And no, I do not fly the Airbus anymore. I am very happy flying the Citation X. I do miss the Airbus, but I dont miss the airline flying. Those terminals make me sick to my stomach.

The answer to your question: It doesn't look good.

A pilot recently applied with a few thousand hours heavy jet PIC time, ex-Air Force, but had not flown in over a year due to a desk job. He also had an LOR from a Netjets pilot. He received an email stating, please reapply when you are current. He didn't even receive the application.

6 years on the panel is the equivalent to 6 years at a desk.

Just the facts.

Apply anyway...Good luck.

Yes I had the same issue. Went out and flew a 421 for 60 hrs and a CASA 212 another 200 hrs and got the job here.

They don't want much. I know someone who flew a 172 for 100 hrs to get "current" and he got the job.

Those planes my hands were on the controls the whole time. Now on TO the AP comes on at 1000 ft... and gets clicked off at 200 ft on landing. About 1 minute per flight is hand flying.

So........is having a very current 135.297/293 (as of yesterday) in a hawker count as being current? Or do they want a certain amount of real world flying lately? Just busted my hump in a sim for the last two weeks.

As on observer, I would like to add how do we know there will be realistic upgrades at NetJets? 2500 pilots now, with their projected hiring how likely is it someone would go over and sit 6 years as an FO?
I went to work for flops under the impresion I would have upgraded within a year, then 9/11 hit, I left 2 years ago and still would not be a captain after 4 years based on seniority.
Just my 2 cents...

There will be upgrades but it will depend on seniority. A guess-timate for someone starting class today might be about 4 years, maybe more, for upgrade. Certainly growth, retirements and other factors affect your actual time to upgrade. NetJets seems to run about a 60/40 ratio of PIC's to SIC's, so that helps to a degree. In the latest upgrade award for the Encore, the junior awards were pilots who'd been here right around the 2-year mark.

Of course, as always, "your mileage may vary".

Something else to consider is that of late most of the vacancies have been for more senior aircraft (Soverign, XL/S, X) and the Ultra PICs have been bidding out of that fleet en masse which is lengthing the upgrade for us lowly SICs. I would never advocate that someone is not entitled to a position that their seniority can hold but it does suck for those of us stuck on SIC pay. And dont tell me how someone leaving the Ultra fleet creates an Captain slot that needs to be filled - I challenge anyone to prouduce an Ultra (Not Encore) PIC bid in the last year. As people have been bidding out the aircraft have been getting sold off. The two junior fleets (400&Encore) have a combined 30 something aircraft so there just arent that many slots. Don't plan on a two year upgrade - it just aint gonna happen. Its still good here as an SIC though...

Actually, if yah dont mind I'd like to talk about when I flew the Messerschmit ME-109 and other various Junkers as well seeing that yah brough that up.

Diesel needs pills! Ha aha ahaaa....thats funny DO-82!

Rocker.....

Those ME-109 and Junkers must have been on the Non-Union side of the fence....The Union side had Dorniers!!!!!

Those were some fun days......

You ever seen a Dornier in a roll? I have. :)

Yeah but a good looking one.

Enjoy the commuter.

And by that I mean the 150 you have listed in your profile.

Diesel.....you were there for that show?

I guess I'll have to add another person to "receive a check" list.

I have the picture a mutual friend send me....classic

Hey Diesel- I've been seeing your posts on this and other threads. It sounds like you are a 12 year old retarded kid. People are asking smart and perfectly reasonable questions, so if you have nothing smart to say, just stay home and watch Spongebob. This board is for mature people. Have a nice day.
