Doesn't really matter what jet it is, what matters is how much stuff do you need for a 7 day trip? I got tired of cramming a 22" bag so I bought the Luggage Works 26" (104NG). Lots of pockets and very durable construction. Downside is the expense (around $320) and the weight. But it's a metal frame that will last a very long time. I've not had any problems using it as a carry on with the airlines. Technically it doesn't qualify as carry on but no one has said anything.

+1 for the 26" though I am finding that more and more often the flight crew will ask me to check it planeside. Only seems to happen when I am not in uniform though. By the time I have packed 7 days worth of stuff in there it weighs over 50 pounds. Its funny watching the van drivers eyes pop out when he tries to lift it. Nice to see someone else throwing heavy bags for once.

That is like asking what type of beer someone prefers. Very subjective.
I won't run with at 26, because I don't want to EVER have to check it, but that is just me.... I have had a 22" Travel Pro Crew series, that I have been using at NJA for over 5 years, it has held up well, but is beginning to show it age now.....

26" Luggage works, metal frame. Nice bag. 5 years+ now and it has yet to slow down.

I'll second the travel pro, has worked great for me. I am on my 2nd one in the 10 years since my career put me on the road. Not too expensive if you shop around a bit. I too try to never check my bag, did it once and it got lost - never again. I especially like the "suiter" that zips into the lid on it, nice for packing a suit or a few uniform shirts etc on hangars.

For the Excel use a trunk if you want- the luggage area is freakin huge.

I got tired of looking like a friggin pilot dork after work when going out etc...Makes me want to puke everytime I see someone wearing an issue Trenchcoat, Jeans and a pair of black dress shoes....

I went out and bought the largest travel pro I could find. You know the same one Marcos used to carry her shoes in. Now I have my full wardrobe while "LIVING" on the road. BTW it's too big to carry onboard but I could care less. I hope they lose the damned thing. Makes my job that much easier if they do LOL

No longer in the X, it's a secret where I landed But let's just say lost in the NQC shuffle...But hey there are plenty of X openings. The term rats from a burning ship come to mind...

BTW I can do a lot of fun things in 10 hours...Who needs sleep?

Also I had the pleasure of being flown in an Ultra to a new plane. My frigging bag had to be attached to a seat in the back. It was far too large for the baggage compartment. Wouldn't fit through the opening LOL

26 works the best right now in summer your gonna be packing alot of shirts the bigger the better 7 days is a long time in the winter you take even more clothes. I usually always check my bag on the first and last day travel especially in the summer finding over head bins is tough I would rather relax check it at the counter and not worry, I've had my bags not make it once not because of checking it in at the counter but because of trying to carry it on the plane and not having any room for it, The airline couldnt get it on in time to make the push back or they already closed the cargo bins. Just dont be like that X F.O out of MKE that has the flashing wheels on his overnight it really scream I'M GAY! we all know who you are steven
