I was watching the today show this morning and they reported that FAA is investigating to near collisions at ORD this past week. Supposedly 2 airplanes in the last 6 days have come within 1000ft of each other during the takeoff roll.
Anyone have any additional information?

Yes, Ohare sucks.

It's only a matter of time. Was based in ORD for 2 years. They do things their own way and if it's your first time there you can easily get in trouble. There's FAR's and ORD-FAR's

The controllers at ORD do not violate the FAR's. The controllers do the best job with the concrete they are given. To participate in the ORD operation, one must be alert and able to see the big picture. It is not a place you want to say "AHHH AHHH AHHH" too many times when transmitting as they will eat you alive. You just have to be up to the challenge of being on your game when dealing with ORD controllers. Listen up, look outside and don't stop on a taxiway unless told to do so and whatever you do, "KEEP THE LINE TIGHT".

Okay,

Where's the problem? Crews, over saturation (overworking ATC)? I'm not trying to pick a fight, I truly want to hear you opinion.

The issue with the 2 incidents are just media fodder. Look at the stats for BOS and runway incursions they really lead the pack. If anything the ORD controllers appear to try to do too much. IMHO, they are the best which is a good thing, but it can also have a negative side as they KNOW they are the best. Nothing against the RJ's but if the airlines wanted to improve ORD efficiency they would go to less frequency with bigger jets. Take the 5 RJ's out of a market and use 3 MD80's, 737's or A320's. The RJ takes up the same airspace as a bigger jet and if the airlines want to improve ORD they will manage their operations there better. Perhaps ORD ATC could create an HOV operation, plane with less than 100 seats are limited to one runway and subject to more ATC flow restrictions. The only way the airlines will change the way they schedule is when it becomes inconvenient for them.

Agreed!
Been saying that for years.
Was also based in LGA for a few months right around the start of the slottery. Delta and USairways were oversaturating LGA with commuters planes some with as little as 19 seats. What a waste of a slot!!!
