I got shot down by the Gulfstream Unit at NAF Andrews a few years ago and was a current type rated Gulfstream guy with my civilian job! Oh but I was an 0-5...Aw well, the Nav has always treated well none the less, Good luck dudes,
Village
USNR retired
For those wondering if it has changed, no it hasn't.
taxi1wire, thank your lucky stars you didn't get picked up by unit at Andrews. Not many happy people there.

O-5s have never been eligible (at least in my era). Junior, most qualified is the norm. You should know that (or they should have told you that when you applied). SELRES O-5s (and for that matter FOS'd O-3s) only have so much time they can soak up in the Navy. FOS'd O-4s on the other hand are like Herpes.
Every squadron that looks at a candidate has to take into account the amount of "work" they can get out of him/her before they need to move up/out.
BTW -- WHY THE F IS THIS ON THE MAJORS BOARD?
Bavarian,
You and I are from the same era, and I knew well my chances of getting picked up for those slots a few years back, but figured "ah what the hell"...stranger things have happened.
The good news is maybe the Navy will adopt some of the AF guard ideas and allow old fa... another chance to fly in a bag, I know all of my buds getting whacked from the airlines might bite at this chance, I have forwarded the Msg a few weeks back to them.
Huh? Reeeeeelly?
Yep, reeeeeeeelly.
For the first time in recent history, about 35% of the CDR overgrade waivers this FY were denied. That is what has led to the massive shortfalls of bodies in almost all squadrons. Almost all squadrons are 3-8 pilots short. But given this enviornment, it is almost impossible to affiliate as an 05 unless possibly you go to a squadron that is 50% undermanned like the C130 unit in Philly or New Orleans.
