Since it is an eight hour flight a reasonable scenario to me is that he went to crew rest to catch a nap and never came back. When they went to check on him he was dead. Sounds reasonable and more probable to me.

He was in his seat when he passed away.

So who was pic for the rest of the flight?

I am assuming it was the FO with the IRO becoming SIC, I believe most of the decisions were made on a conference call with dispatch, the CPO, senior management, and medlink. The union representatives were pleased with how the whole thing was handled from the company's perspective, a pleasant surprise nowadays.

The lead FA. She had been with the company when CAL operated the Wright Flyer so she had seniority over the two relatively junior First Officers.

Based on what I've been reading from the EWR Council's Magenta Line newsletter, it sounds like the FAs pretty much think they run the show all the time anyway.

You mean they don't?

My target age for retirement is 49 or sooner. I will take a COLA by then too. Flying wears you out. I don't fly too much (250 or less per year) and long term health is one of my reasons for that.

Exactly. What year at the commuters do they let the FO's start landing? Especially when they dont even have a Commercial License.

hey buddy, it's the legacies trying to compete with your $49 fares that let to the regional hiring boom of now 50% of all departures. Try paying your flight attendants during training and getting your own parking passes supplied and maybee the legacies can keep more flying and stop giving it to 200 hr wonder pilots.

As stupid as you think I sound, can you refute any of the above? nope
