Is it tough to move domiciles at Avantair? What is the policy, do they have to have an opening or can you move around the system as you would like?

Just wondering if a guy could get from DFW to SLC in a reasonable amount of time after getting hired, say if he was to get hired at the beginning of the year?

thanks in advance!

As long as the gateway is open it's yours. Move as you wish between open gateways.

how often do gateways come open? what has to happen for a gateway to come open? noticed that SLC is not open at the moment....

Gateways open and close at the sole discretion of the company.

It's based on crewing needs as well as cost of airfare in and out as well as airline service.

Gateways that are open now are almost always open..... If you want to move to the Sout East or North West good luck.

this was posted on another thread - thought it might help with this threads conversation:

Oh, in case you wanted to know, the open gateways are:

BNA, BUR, DFW, DEN, CMH, IAH, IND, LAS, LAX, MDW, MSY, PHX, STL, TUS

Good luck out there.

The East coast is saturated with crews and there is not nearly enough flying in the Northwest at this time to warrant gateways. The Southwest and Center states are the main focus for hiring at this time.

Surprised Avantair does not have a SLC domicile. Plenty of pilots live there. Did they have one formerly at SLC and it is closed now?

Tried SLC. Turns out it is a VERY expensive place tax wise for a company. Hence, no more base there. More than just where pilots live and number of flights a day go into deciding bases.
