I have flown with guys from Mesa recently that said the 1900 upgrade there went as low as a few months or weeks. That would have been 2007 I believe.

Most seniority numbers just jumped 5 numbers, and that's not counting the captain that just resigned from ewr.

MOST airlines require 0 in time in type to upgrade: NWA/DAL, CAL, UAL, USAIr, etc., etc.

If your seniority can get you a bid for captain, and you meet the minimums for captain at the airline, then you are upgrading in that aircraft.

For example, you were hired on as a 757 FO. Later, you bid successfully for 737 Capt and you are now in the next training class for 737 captain, with 0 time in type.

While that may be true, those pilots you speak of don't have only 1500 hours total time, and have PIC time in other types.
