Moderator: how about starting a “places to be” forum? Wouldn’t that be a good idea?

I’m going to Indianapolis, IN. Columbus, OH. Champagne, IL. Telluride, CO. Pueblo, CO and Apple valley, CA this month. Any suggestions for me?

Was just in Indy today. If you have time, head downtown to the Circle. Tons of bars, pubs, eats, and shopping. Great looking city (well, at least in the Circle ).

Wish I could help with Apple Valley. I lived there some 18 years ago when I was in the AF at George AFB so I'm sure much has changed. The happening place I remember (if it's still there) is Drapers on hwy 18 for nightlife. Might be able to find something in Victorville which is just over the hill from AV. If you have any interest in military aviation history, the AV airport has Korean War ace Joseph McConnell's F-86 on display. They used to have the Roy Roger's museum (he lived in AV) but I hear they moved that to Branson, MO. Really not much I can think of to do...it's just a small town in the High Desert.

If you are in CMI for any amount of time, get a ride to Sixth and Green. It's the central location in campustown with lots of great bars and pubs. Depending on the day of the week really makes the decision where to go. Sunday, Monday, go to Murphy's Pub on Green St. east of Sixth. Tuesday, go to Clybornes to see lots of hot sorority girls drinking $8 bottles of wine... "wine night." It's south on Sixth. Wednesday, head to the White Horse west on Green by Second St., or Legends at Sixth and Green. Thursday, Corona/Buffett night at Legends on Sixth and Green. Friday/Saturday, take your pick... you'll find more sorority girls at the trashier places like CO Daniels, Kams, Clyborne, and Station 211. You'll find a more "chill" crowd at Legends. Hippies at Murphy's Pub.

If you want to avoid the college scene, head to downtown Champaign. Some good bars in the downtown area. Everything from dance clubs to wine and martini bars. All within a 3-block radius.

Make sure you have some poutin. I love that when i have a hang over. Nothing better than cheese, fries and gravy.

Hit the casino across the river. There is a great bbq place with the yellow awning up the street from the best western.

Don't know about you, but we stay out on Ste Catherine. West of town out near McGill.

Lots of good bars and restaurants. Cock & Bull is a good Anglo bar, but it's very smoky and kind of a strange crowd. There's a place called the Boodah Bar off of Ste Cat, up a light of stairs. Asian theme, pumping music and Lychee martinis. Very cool.
