Hey guys, i am overnighting in Montreal this week, I'll get there around 10 pm and will be there untill 2pm next day. I'm looking for sugestions on things to do, both nat night and in the morning.
Thanks guys.

Spent a great night in Montreal last year, best place to party in Canada in my opinion. Go downtown to i think it was Crescent street. Lots of great bars and restaurants. Just ask the locals, they are very friendly up there and most speak english. Exchange you money though at the airport or hotel and get some canadian dough before going out. Expect to pay covers at all the good clubs. Dont worry about the next morning, think the clubs are open till atleast 4 or later and youll be sleeping till noon.

Flechas, which airport are you heading to YUL from? EWR or CLE? If EWR, go to one of the currency exchanges and tell them you are an airport employee. They will exchange your cash for Canadian moose money with no extra fees attached.

I love YUL. I'd fly there every dang trip if I could.

As a university student there now, here is my brief rundown:

Crescent Street - great bars/clubs; but very toursity, (relatively) expensive drinks, cover & coat check.

St-Laurent Street - awesome bars/clubs, whatever is your type of place, they've got it. From the bar where Hollywood stars in town shooting go, to the 5 cent shooters, it's all there.

St-Cathrine - strip clubs, though too far east and you're in the gay village. Remember "Danceuses" is the feminin gender of the word Dancers, while "Danseurs" is the masculin!

St-Denis - the endless choice of restaurants, with a huge variety in price range, rivals New York.

You're much better off using your credit cards. They give you pretty good exchange rates, and you're not stuck with Canadian money when you get change.

Hey man, yeah I'm flying to YUL out of CLE. i've heard is nice there, first time for me in Cananada.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll let you know next week how it went.

Also, i have to be in CHS for 22 hrs, any ideas?

Take a good coat. Coldest goddang place on our schedule.

Stay in your nice warm hotel room if you get the Hilton at the airport. The walk to the bus station is about 500 yards away and your nuts will freeze together during the winter months. During the warmer months, catch the Lion's Roar (actually some French name that sounds something like that) bus, down to the Metro station (that little piece of paper gets you a free train ride...don't toss it like I did the first 4 times, stick it in the turnstile). I forget which stop we got off on...think it was the orange route which comes close to the Notredame (another french word) building. Puts you real close to the street that parallels the water. Several decent places to eat...try the italian place.

Oh yeah...don't bother asking the locals for directions in English. They will act like they don't habla de englis and walk away quickly as though you smell like a...a....a...oh yeah, a frenchman.

Most guys will tell you about the supersex...

Go to McKibbons Irish pub on Bishop Street. One block west from Cresent street.....

In the morning go to any Second Cup or Tim Hortens....

See YUL girl...fall in love....

I second the vote for McKibbons on Bishop Street. One of my favorite Irish Pubs anywhere. Nice selection of Ale. Enjoy!

Moderator: how about starting a “places to be” forum? Wouldn’t that be a good idea?

I’m going to Indianapolis, IN. Columbus, OH. Champagne, IL. Telluride, CO. Pueblo, CO and Apple valley, CA this month. Any suggestions for me? ;)

Was just in Indy today. If you have time, head downtown to the Circle. Tons of bars, pubs, eats, and shopping. Great looking city (well, at least in the Circle ;)).

Wish I could help with Apple Valley. I lived there some 18 years ago when I was in the AF at George AFB so I'm sure much has changed. The happening place I remember (if it's still there) is Drapers on hwy 18 for nightlife. Might be able to find something in Victorville which is just over the hill from AV. If you have any interest in military aviation history, the AV airport has Korean War ace Joseph McConnell's F-86 on display. They used to have the Roy Roger's museum (he lived in AV) but I hear they moved that to Branson, MO. Really not much I can think of to do...it's just a small town in the High Desert. :)

22hrs in CHS.

Slit your wrists!

Dutchman,

If you are in CMI for any amount of time, get a ride to Sixth and Green. It's the central location in campustown with lots of great bars and pubs. Depending on the day of the week really makes the decision where to go. Sunday, Monday, go to Murphy's Pub on Green St. east of Sixth. Tuesday, go to Clybornes to see lots of hot sorority girls drinking $8 bottles of wine... "wine night." It's south on Sixth. Wednesday, head to the White Horse west on Green by Second St., or Legends at Sixth and Green. Thursday, Corona/Buffett night at Legends on Sixth and Green. Friday/Saturday, take your pick... you'll find more sorority girls at the trashier places like CO Daniels, Kams, Clyborne, and Station 211. You'll find a more "chill" crowd at Legends. Hippies at Murphy's Pub.

If you want to avoid the college scene, head to downtown Champaign. Some good bars in the downtown area. Everything from dance clubs to wine and martini bars. All within a 3-block radius.

ahh montreaul.

Club supersex, wendy's the list goes on and on.

Make sure you have some poutin. I love that when i have a hang over. Nothing better than cheese, fries and gravy.

Hit the casino across the river. There is a great bbq place with the yellow awning up the street from the best western.

Weasel and FC,

Thanks!

FC,

I don't mind some college girls ;)

Don't know about you, but we stay out on Ste Catherine. West of town out near McGill.

Lots of good bars and restaurants. Cock & Bull is a good Anglo bar, but it's very smoky and kind of a strange crowd. There's a place called the Boodah Bar off of Ste Cat, up a light of stairs. Asian theme, pumping music and Lychee martinis. Very cool.

Web Site Idea

Is there a web site (or section of this site) that allows air crews to rate an overnight and/or post things to do and places to go in each particular overnight?
