22 years in the Army, 18 of it flying, 14 of it FW (what can I say, I'm a lucky bastard!!) and when I got out and got a real job or two, I felt like the most clueless rookie in the class. And my experience was as close to civilian flying as you can get.
Maybe you could say that the civilian track makes one a better civilian pilot, but I have found that most ex mil guys (with the notable exception of you guys that shoot at stuff from the skies) make better employees.
MNalpha you are right on. Military guys do have low time. I spent 28 yrs. in the largest airline in the world I only flew a few different types and ammassed only 7500 accident free hrs, but I flew to 162 airports in 142 countries. I am sure though that doesn't matter in your big scheme of things. Hope you get over your mil envy. It wont help at the next interview. Peace!
