-US Airways furloughed
-They created Mid Atlantic
-MDA was staffed with furloughed mainline guys (mostly left seat) and "flow up" -PDT guys (mostly right seat)
-US Airways sold the aircraft (and gates I think) to Republic
-Apparently they didn't sell the "airline" (as it wasn't really a seperate airline to begin with) so the MDA pilots were out of luck as far a change of control clause in their contract.
-So, they were furloughed again, went to Republic as J4J or (I think) are in the process of flowing back down to PDT.
One highlight was that the pilots *mostly* stuck together and for the most part didn't bail out to Republic before the arbitration was lost.
That's it in 200 words or less. I'm sure somebody who went through it can fill you in better.

Mid Atlantic was supposed to be a key part of USAirways recovery and provide jobs for the furloughed mainline pilots (some of whom had 15 years of service). It was such a success that USAirways decided to sell the aircraft to Republic. Add it to the list of other management blunders over the years including metrojet, operation high ground, global carrier of choice, etc, etc ......nwaredtail said:Can someone please give me a history lesson on what happened to the USAir mainline guys that went to midatlantic?
