great, just what we need is more pilots......the government should come in regulate the commercial and atp. Only allow like 100 atp's to be issued per year.

pilot surplus over, and we are then making what we deserve.

but that will never happen.

Wouldn't that be socialism?

My one on one meeting with Cheryl went great. She got the job done, quuickly and professionally. Documents that I needed to bring were:
Driver License
Birth Cert.
Social Security Card
Proof of unemployment ( make a copy of UIA deposits into checking account)
Letter from previous emlployer stating why you were furloughed/laid off.

I have a confirmed class date June 29th. Books for at home study course will be here in a few weeks. Cheryl takes care off the deposit required to get a class date and books. She said she also "tags" your file as pilot so it doesn't sit on someone's desk. You will recieve a "credit card" in the amount of the program minus the deposit. Very easy and simple to use.
You do not need to full out the FAFSA form!!!!! So don't waste your time. If you have questions...PM me. Again, this post is to help pilots. Lets keep it going in that direction.

I did mine all out of state with Cheryl. She paid the school directly. I have to submit my Hotel bill when completed and she will reimburse $56/night for 6 nights.

What is the name of the school you're going to , and what model Citation is the sim, the 500 covers about 10 different airplanes, that's a good choice type to get.

I'll have to ask her about that. Thanks for the heads up. Laluna

Great info. and thanks for taking the time posted it.

I am setting up my paper works with Wayne county.

I just recieved a phone call from Cheryl today. She has a check for $1064 that will cover my room and food expenses. I also need to submit reciepts and a copy of my license upon completion of the program.

Sweet deal on the hotel! I didn't get that in Washtenaw County. I paid for that out of pocket. But at least it was at a cheap rate.

hey w2broke, have u asked washtenaw to reimburse u? hell print this sht out and show it to them, or call wayne and have them talk to washtenaw, sht aint gonna happen by itself!

PM me if you want the name of the company but they do all the training in the actual airplane. It was a 6 day course and all went really smoothly. I would strongly recommend it.

thats a bit of a waste to do it all in the plane. So you'll get a type that is nearly useless until you can get a job that will send you to sim.

This is a great program that has existed at least since President G.W. Bush, maybe even Clinton. Does anyone know if the state of Kansas is onboard with this program?

Newest info for Michigan NWLB

I'm working my way through the program right now and figured I'd give my two cents on the average timeline to get through the program...

May 12th Walked into Livonia Michigan Works Office to enroll in federal WIA program. They attempted to slide me into a June 29th orientation date, but thanks to Laluna, I managed to contact Cheryl Radtke and got a May 18th date instead.

May 18th Orientation day - Mass group meeting, you'll take the CASAS test which is middle school level verbal and math questions.

May 26th I had my first mass meeting with my caseworker Cheryl. If I hadn't been in contact with Cheryl prior to my original orientation, there is no way my 1st meeting with her would have only been 1 week after orientation. In my first meeting she goes over program. It is a general description and her requirements on paper documentation actually vary, especially for pilots. These are the items you gotta complete:
Assigned homework: Labor Market Information, Career Exploration, Resume and Cover letter, completion of Choice Mechanics I, II, and Interest Inventory. You do NOT need to completel the FAFSA application if you already have a Bachelors degree. In that case, you must provide a copy of college transcripts. She'll tell everybody in the class that they must complete the stuff BEFORE requestion your first 1 on 1 meeting with her. Just disregard, contact her two days later, claim you're ready, and you'll still have 2 weeks minimum to get the documentation together.

May 15th 1 on 1 meeting. Went over documenation, should have signed papers at that point, but printers were broken. Make sure you bring a valid passport!!! I can't emphasize this enough. If you have one, bring it!

May 19th Signed paperwork, I'm officially now waiting for the debit card worth $10,000 for training. Should take up to 45 days to receive.

Aug 10th Tentative training date at SimCom.

Good luck everyone!

Florida sucks. Back in August they told me no more funds for the year. I had another job shortly thereafter so I never pursued it.
