Does anyone have current info about Miami Air?
Pay, QOL, Bases, Schedules, Union, type of flying, Aircraft.....etc?

Thanks...................

The pilot group is mostly scabs from the EAL strike of '89-90.

Favorite charter airline of the GOP. Athough, strangely enough I think Kerry uses them also...

fr8doggie,

Classy response. I am sure any recent Miami Air newhires will appreciate your remarks - even if there are a lot of Eastern scabs there. Not all of their pilots are scabs...

I've had idiots say the same thing to me about AirTran, and it gets old very quickly.

The worst part is that we have guys who worked for 15 years at Eastern, went out on strike, never went back, ended up driving trucks, selling cars, etc for several years, lost their retirement, and then, after finally getting a job at a growing Airline, and moving back into the left seat, they have to read some zit-popping moron on anonymous message board write that their (new) airline is filled "with a bunch of scabs".

Hey, Fr8tscab, why don't you just open up a great big can of STFU?

PhhhhhOOOOOWAAAAAHHH!!!! (Milk spurts out nose....)

How many pilots at Miami Air?
How many scabs?
Ratio should be easy to figure out. (same goes for AirTran)

I'm not going to spend my whole morning comparing the lists, but looking over our seniority list, Idon't see anyone with a hire date after 1996, which would mean that we're down into the single digits, percentage-wise.

Probably quite a bit less than some of the "legacy" carriers, such as UAL and CAL.

WHOA!
Nice flame, dude. Of course, that's the fun of these anonymous web-boards right? I doubt very much that you would have the balls to say that to my face.

I flamed a couple of my fellow FedEx pilots when I first got on here and later realized how stupid and immature my (so I thought) clever replies to them were. Yours is in the same category.

Regards,

Depends.

If I heard you tell someone on a crew bus that my airline was crewed by "a bunch of scabs", I would probably first call you out on it. Depending upon your response, we would see where it goes.

The last time that happened, (about two years ago) it was a SWA crew. After they found out that the Capt they said it to was a former EAL MEC rep, and after he cleared the air, they were very apologetic . . . pretty red in the face, as they shook his hand, calling him "sir".

Next?

We waited for a Miami Air 727 to land on 36R at TPA the other day so we could takeoff. 36R has that "You take the resposibility" for landing always on ATIS, so we were shocked to see a jet landing on it. Then we found out it was indeed Kerry.

Dizel,

Just adding JB to the list so as not to show any favoritism. They have their share of scabs just like the other 2 mentioned carriers. Although you can't really put Miami Air in the same category as AT & JB because Miami Air is basically a charter airline.

The light at the end of the tunnel is that with each passing day, more and more of the relatively few scabs left at whatever airline, are dropping off the face of the earth due to retirement or death, with the latter being preferred for their sorry carcases.

jetblue, as far as I know, has 0.4 percent of the pilot group. Three, if I am correct, out of 800 or so!

So, Purevida, it seems you have left a few out if you wish not to show favoritism, the list is long and illustrious, so now you need to put them all up. The FQ's at UAL, the CAL ones etc, etc.

And the award goes to...

I think Tywebb gets the "most bestest Airtran employee award" for the month of March... hell, lets give him April too... I couldnt resist.

Ill go ahead and say it for you Ty, Yes UPS has scabs too, I am 110% IPA, but I dont carry a list around in my pocket.

Ill bet thoase SWA pilots tossed and turned all night long... :D

I don't know about that, but I'll bet they came to the realization that when you dismiss an airline as being "full of scabs", not only are you insulting the 90-something percent of us who aren't scabs, but you are likely insulting people who struck the whole time and lost everything. . . . . ya never know.;)

The tone of this thread only serves to perpetuate synicism and hatred towards a very professional pilot group that yes, was started and continues to be managed by EAL scabs. I do not know the exact ratio of scabs per total pilots and F/As but I can tell you it is very small... maybe 10%.

That leaves the rest of us 90% extremely grateful to be employed by an airline that continues to be profitable year after year and flys brand new airplanes. Also, the pilot group just negotiated a contract extension (yes we have our own official union "MAPA") that will include us in the profit sharing program along with the scheduled pay raises of the previous contract to be ammended in 2006. This, in an era of airline job losses and paycuts (for the most part) is something to be greatful for.

FYI, back in '89 I walked that picket line for the entire duration, along with some of our pilots and mechanics. The management, who are among the nicest guys you'll ever meet were willing to forget and forgive. For that I am employed and loving every minute of it.

If anyone would like more inside info on the company... You can PM me. For gerneral info, there is a new website... Miamiair.com.

Fly safe!
