From Mesahub.....

Everyone goes to work at the lower end companies (i.e. a regional) before they get to bigger and better things. And frankly I would rather be paid less and have some sort of job security; plus the pay really is not that bad. Sure it's horrible the first couple years, but then it's fine. Do you really need a $200,000 pay check?

Just got back from Dolphin Training College! I have stopped flying and am know a full time Dophin Trainer down at SeaWorld Orlando!! My job is much more relaxing, and having to work with the special Dolphins has been a big joy!!
;-)

Is there a student loan available for that? I think JohnnyO wants to start a school in BFE except with sharks.

Welcome back.

YES! Plus per diem, bonuses, and a company car. Oh yea don't forget an untouchable pension and travel benefits for life.

You wanna make $200k per year?

Get in a bonna-fide profession (doctor, lawyer, etc.) where your individual talents and skill get you rewarded, not a blue-collar trade . . . .where you're just an easily replaceable cog in a big machine.

Guys who get bent out of shape about Mesa's wages compared to their particular regional contracts are screaming about a couple thou per year, and maybe a couple extra days off per month. Whoope.

Oh, how so wrong you are. You act like a couple extra days off per month is no big deal. Are you kidding me? Not only that, but let's quickly brainstorm a brief list of differences between a quality contract and a Mesa like contract....

1) vacation days and pay rules
2) pay protection for cancellations
3) block or better
4) per diem pay
5) min day pay
6) junior man rules
7) sick pay and rules
8) trip productivity rules
9) training pay and protection
10) hourly pay rules
11) ETC....

The myth of everything is peachy with the Mesa contract because it's "similar to all the other regionals" is absolute s**t and if it continues will lead us all down a degrading path away from what used to be a decent career.

It is this mentality that allows mesa to keep afloat. They can always find some ignorant a$$ who cares more about making less money and so called security than looking out for the industry as a whole. IDIOT! If we all stuck together and had great contracts such as Air willy, Comair(before concessions), XJET, etc. and all worked for a great hourly rate we would control mgt. instead of them controlling us because of jacka$$es who will STEAL my job because they will do it for less and for a $hitty QOL, but hey at least he/she will get to fly a shiny jet. Whoopee!!!! Since when did mesa have more job security, didn't Us airways get rid of them except for the 90 seaters(which should be at mainline)? Oh yeah they did and then they went and said they would do CHQ flying in MCO for Delta for less than the CHQ pilots. Sorry, but stealing jobs is not security!!! I only hate mesa pilots who support their company and contract!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the government welfare departments in Hawaii and JFK area are soon going to learn about a regional airline named MESA, the one regional with the most job security.

I don't enjoy disliking people, but I dislike people who should demand more, but don't. Their pays the worst, work rules the worst. What else is there to say. Kids out of college want to go there for the quick job and quick upgrade, not knowing how much they're hurting the rest of us.

You'd have most of those at FedEx and UPS.

RJDC, you are such a puke.

You also have Management. He11, they don't even know how to run a company and they make well over $250k, plus car, travel, pentions, golf memberships. Pilots are much more valuable than those management MBA dorkos.

Amen to all those who stand up for what you believe in! I know there are starving, poor, low hour pilots wanting to fly anything that is thrown at them, but it isn't fair to the rest of the industry that has worked hard to get where they are, only to have it ripped out from under them due to the under cutting of peoples lively hoods, ie. pay, QOL, etc.

That CHQ flying in Orlando was Comair flying before those whores stole it from us.

Comair built the base, the buildings and the flying, non of it was Delta's or anyone elses. Delta sold it to the cheapest whores they can find, as CHQ are now finding out!

...or Mesa and GJ "stealing" AWAC's ORD flying. Whatever. They are all $hit eating regionals that have no future. Heck, Mesa can have PHL.

If you had any idea what you're talking about, you would know that it is the ability to move laterally in order to position yourself to move up vertically in a profession that distinguishes those professions from the seniority-based pilot world.

The HMO's have made being a Doctor as much if not more of a cog-type job than being an airline pilot. And being a high-priced lawyer means working far more than any pilot ever dreamed. Their billable minimum hours are about 2.5 times higher than the FAA allows pilots to work.

Finally, the advent of the RJ proves that a jet can be safely moved from A-B for well under $100K per year. Add in an over-burdened, under-staffed FAA that can't possibly provide the type of oversight with which they are charged and you have the ideal conditions to let just about anybody in the cockpit.

And "anybodys" don't command premium pay.

If you're willing to work for that wage, then that's exactly what your worth. Johnny O knows that and so do you.

News flash, Mesa is not that secure. Yonited fired you once and with the press coming from all of the dissatisfied cities and customers it will happen again. Its inevitable. Companies are going to grow and expand regardless of how hard you take it in the rear. Growth is in their best interest. Crew Labor continues to be one of the lowests costs in any airline yet everyone bends over backwords to get more flying.

The reason we will most likely be at the regionals for ever is because of folks with your mentality

"As a Mesa pilot, I'm cheering for this to succeed, because I like to see our company expand (and get 737's someday . . . I think we're the next RyanAir circa 5-10 years from now . . .another story)"
