Recently got the nod to join the XJ ranks and I am really looking forward to it.

A few questions....

-What hotels do we stay in MSP?
- Free Food?
- Free Internet?

-What hotels do we stay in YUL or DEN?
- Free Food?
- Free Internet?

- What color ties neckties at XJ?

- Who are the good and bad guys for the 900? Training Department and on the line?

- I heard rumors there could be more CRJ-200s from PNCL? I'm not familiar with NW/PNCL agreement. Have you all heard this one?

- What is the current seniority list count?

- How many 900 FOs are on the list now?

Thanks!

Denver is the Holiday Inn Airport. Nice hotel. Microwave and fridge in each room and free wireless. Lots of eating and shopping within walking distance. I think all 900 training is in YUL and the 200 can either be in Denver or Montreal. Welcome aboard.

One of the best training departments in the industry...majors included! I've had several colleagues move on to majors say Mesaba training is better, and it's eons ahead of the training department at my current airline. You won't be disappointed.

Free internet at the homestead in msp/eagan. Although you might have to ask to wave the fee. They seem to give free internet to xj employees.

Not sure of the hotels in MSP, since I live in MSP. As for the training program, on the majority all the instructors are top notch. I have not had any bad experiences with anyone on the ground or in the sim. If you need help, ask for it. Show an attitude, guess what......you will not like how you are treated and will not last. Show up on time and have a good attitude and you will do well.

Neck ties, best investment is a navy blue tie...of the zipper variety.

Do not be that guy who wears the back tie and cannot tell that he bought the black pants at Kohls instead of the blue ones.... (haggars rock!)

For anyone interested junior Saab captain at XJ fell to 3.5 years(March ’04 hire) on today’s (8/7) vacancy award. Both MSP and DTW. DTW slightly junior.

yeah, who would have thought, I do not see how we are going to keep up with the training. We have only 6 900's on property and we are already so Jr on captains, by the time 36 come on property, where will the captains be coming from? The current new hire classes? Hope the seat lock is lifted.

huh? There is no seat lock on upgrades...

the 3 year seat lock is just to avoid extra pay-neutral training events like FOs switching planes

unless I totally misunderstood you?

three year seat lock for new hires FO to FO seat. Two year seat lock for anyone once they make a move to anyother seat. As of right now someone going to saab Capt. could not bid CRJ Capt. for two years.

Someone on here previously stated that such a Saab CA to CRJ Ca move is being reduced to one year starting in 2008. What say you?

Also, since I do not yet have a seniority list, can someone expand on how "junior" the Saab CA went? Even better, can anyone PM me the seniority list.

Thanks!

Junior Saab Captain right around 490 in DTW and 486 or so in MSP. These are guys hired in Spring of 2004.

Does Mesaba have a base in MEM and if so how senior or junior is it.

Slob skipper based and living in MEM flying around the SE US seems like a nice life, home a lot... or is it?

Mem

Hey guys,
Memphis has it's own little bubble. You fly out of Memphis to only a few "premium" cities, places like
Greenville, Paduca, Hattiesburg, Alex.... There is only about 10 of them and that is all you do. An hour out and an hour back. I never got into the DTW or MSP system for the nine months I was down there (regular line). Right now Memphis is senior because alot of the guys like being based down there (pretty commutable), but the big reason is that the 900 is not down there yet. Once it does get there all the top Saab captains will go it and then Memphis will be way junior again. It will also be junior because you will not have people from Minni always bidding down there to get a schedule they previously couldn't hold in Minn (ex. a junior Avro Capt in MSP would only get reserve whereas if he bid down to MEM he could get a line, now he could just bid the 200 or be a very, very senior Saab capt).

Congrats, really. It's always a little exciting to get a new job.

With your listed time/quals, however, I'm just a little intrigued as to why the move to Mesaba?:erm:

XJ is a great opportunity all around imho.

I read on another board that some guys are getting 1 month breaks in between sims on the 900. Is this true?

When do the -200s start arriving?

A better question is: Where will we park them when they do start arriving.

For September there is 1 FO and 10 Captains. 7 of the Captains are going to 900 training on the 17th and 2 still need to do OE.

I can't figure out why NOBODY is doing OE. There are 40 pilots in training and a new vacancy for 20 more.

Rumor was we would get 601 back from Compost in September and 2 per month after that.

The one 200 that we have now is only scheduled for 225 hours of block in September so if they start OE and do it on every leg they might get 9 people through.

XJ SF34 Upgrade Time Falls Even More

Currently 2 years, 11 months via vacancy award 7-12. Hire date of early September, 2004. Upgrade class starts 9/17... How times change....
