All the more reason to vote the pitiful TA down. IF the planes are coming, why not get paid a reasonable salary instead of cutting your pay? They did this to the FO's when the Avro's showed up.

Mngt: If you knock down FO pay to a blended rate and stop the scale at 4 years, we'll give you jets.

Tom: Yeah that sounds good. Screw the FO's, I wanna trade in my Dash.

The Avro's were coming anyway because the pay was/is so terrible for that aircraft. Management is still laughing at that one.

Maybe they are recalling because they are actually short.......wait a minute, that has been the case for the last 10 years. Raise your hand if you had a vacation cancelled or you were furloughed twice by XJ.

Seriously, if everyone was willing to strike in 2004 to get a fair contract, voting yes for this TA makes no sense. Everyone was willing to let XJ disappear for a fair contract then. Pilots agreed to a TA that was industry average at best and are now faced with concessions on it that would make XJ pilots the bottom of the barrel. What a proud day.

I think management will be in for a very rude awakening when it comes time to find newhires. A few, much better, regionals are short of pilots now. The pool of folks willing to start at $20,000 (or less)/year is shrinking.

Maybe the laws of supply and demand will actually work against the regionals for a change? There seems to be a lot of stories lately on how low new-hire class turnouts have been.

Dodge is exactly right. If you were willing to stand up in 2004, why not now? I mean the concessions aren't even needed. Never were. It's a beat down, Northwest mentality. And it is absolutely not warranted in this case.

They have to run through the list several times before they can give up on it. I believe the contract states that pilots can bypass until there is no one furloughed junior to them. That way, the final, obligatory, recalls go in reverse seniority.

I know they have to run through the list top to bottom and then bottom to top. But if the first 155 guys furloughed in January are already established else where and no body wants to come back it won't take very long to get your last chance recall. I just think they are taking advantage of the instability to recall in the hopes that 2 and 3 year F.O's who are furloughed say "the hell with it", so when and if they ramp up hiring it will be fresh blood year one. Mesaba has always been big on hiring 1000/100 instructor types lucky for me because that was me back in the day, all excited about my first airline gig. Another point is I doubt they will have trouble finding guys when they start hiring if it is for growth. The younger guys with hopes and dreams and no morgage or family are still thinking quick upgrade and Management knows it.

70 letters/calls went out to furloughs, 3 responded with a maybe the rest were no. Way to go SLT

If people who have no job (theoretically - if you listen to ALPA or mngt) are saying NO, then what the he!! are you guys thinking by voting this thing in (we all know it will pass, unless there is a groundswell of support for a NO vote). NO JOB AT ALL IS BETTER THAN A JOB NOT WORTH HAVING!!

Be honest with yourselves and realize that next year mngt will have yet another crisis, or better yet "NWA decided to give those aircraft to a third party". What are you going to do if you vote this thing in and no growth arrives? What then? You could easily find yourself flying only SAABS, with nothing else on the horizon.

This thing is a setup! Mngt recalling guys, to let you think that good things are on the way, getting the TA, then "boo-hoo, NWA didn't give us any more aircraft (where's my bonus?)".

What EXACTLY defines "profit", as MSA sees it, anyway? Anyone can tell you how loosely defined that one is. Mmmmmmm ...... let's see........... that would be what's left over after expenses (my lunch with Paul, at the club) and BONUSES!!

Get a life and keep your dignity!

Management stopped recalling...

(overheard in the crewroom)

I heard 8 are coming back and the recalls have stopped.

I agree 100%. There are WAY too many people acting like 36+ CRJs are a guarantee.

36 CRJs, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm .................... sounds familiar, but where did I hear that before???? Growth ......... a great time to get hired ......... you guys will make captain in 2-3 yrs .......... mmmmmmmmmmmmm .................. I can't place it!

Yea, just like the memo we received from PCL management about their lame contract proposal. It said that with the growth involved from passing it FO's could upgrade quickly. That told me all I needed to know about there proposal. They admit themselves that it even isn't worth having as an FO.Never take concessions for new growth. It's a suckers bet. Go for QOL now, not lame promises.

Here's what I can tell you. NWA has been in negoiations with GE for some time now. Compass for engines for 70 airplanes. Mesaba is set to get 36 as well. Do your research check out Cincinnati's sales/leaseback office they are ramping up for a some huge bonuses.

Ladies they are on the way. NWA is doing the classic "take away scheme" sales technique. They want the bottom dollar and then we will see growth.

GE engines...

From what I heard NWA was talking to GE because NWA wanted the exact same engines on the CRJ's AND the EMB's. Very interesting. 36 crj x 2 engines + 36 eMBs with 2 engines = about 70 airplanes.

Listen to yourselves. When I was there, the rumors were rampant! NWA wouldn't downsize us, we're too valuable, did you hear we're getting ...... blah blah blah.

You've already convinced yourselves that once you sign, you're getting new airframes! At best, you'll only replace the Avros - if you were a 5 year FO before, you'll be a 5 year FO again (best case scenario).

You're playing right into Wychor AND mngt's hands! The senior guys have too much to lose in a NO vote! Mngt has a win-win when you vote yes. They could care less if NWA tells them you'll be 49 SAABS forever, hey they still collect a nice salary AND bonuses.

But go ahead, convince yourselves that you'll be doing better by a yes vote - just don't cry when NWA outsources growth to the likes of CHQ or MESA, just to keep the eternal whipsaw going. Remember, UAL isn't happy with MESA, neither is USAIR "marriages of convenience". What happens if one of these drops them? That's right, fire sale!! And we all know that NWA loves a bargain!

Alright I will give you another inside clue. Check out our TAMDAR program. Installed on our SAAB fleet. A guy name James MCDaniel heads up the program. Now use your handydandy search engine and look up our VP of Tech Operations Poerstel and McDaniel together. Now go to to FAA website and look up who has reservations hold for tail numbers ending in XJ.

Why does the "SAFE Flight 21/James McDaniel" need to hold all of those XJ tail numbers. (N210XJ up and over 320XJ) I'll tell you why. Mesaba asked them to for a secret expansion. dang I am good.

Thats a pretty cool site. They also have all the way up to 635XJ reserved, which i think are the 200's?
