Received this from the MEC via email today:

Recalling Furloughed Pilots
Management has advised the MEC and the Negotiating Committee that it is planning to recall 20 furloughed pilots this month.

The Chief Pilots are calling each of the potential recalled pilots informing them of the situation and answering any questions. The furloughees are being advised that there is a possibility that furloughs could occur again in a few months, depending on attrition and if/when any growth occurs. Management has advised us that they think it is more likely that there will not be any more furloughs, but they wanted to put the returning pilots on notice of the possibility of additional furloughs.

Why would anyone go back to that style of mngt??
Here's some advice: Get a job ANYWHERE else - you'll be better off and you'll send a message that their sh!thead styl of mngt doesn't cut it anymore!

I take it you're gonna pass on the recall if and when it comes?

Yeah, I'm gonna need you to come in on Thanksgiving. We lost a few people and we need to play catch up. I'm also gonna have to ask you to come in on Christmas and New Year's as well. Thanks.

Mmmkay? Yeah, that'd be greeat. And then I'm gonna have to lay you off again. . .

I cannot wait to get a call or Fedex recall notice.... NOOOOO WAY IN HE**!!! HA why would you ever want to go back there!!

After all the BS this past year?

Cost of training one SAAB Pilot: $ (insert dollar amt here)
Cost of hiring lawyers to destroy morale of labor force for 1 Year: $ (insert $ here)
Laying of 200+ pilots, lowering their pay/QOL, then having them come back to cover Holiday flying, without anything in return: PRICELESS!!

P.S I'll be passing it up ................... in case you had any doubts.

Friend of mine called HR this morning and whoever he talked to told him that they were hoping to have everyone recalled by March. CRJ's must be a done deal. I am bypassing... no way on this planet am i going back to get shipped all over shinola over the holidays!

Alrighty, here's the plan: Everyone accept the recall, but demand your two weeks notice. Wait 13 days and call them back to decline the class. Rinse and repeat as needed until they have gone through the list. It's the least we can do to show our loyalty and appreciation.

Mem-shi

When did we start service to Shinola? Maybe that's why we need the pilots back! That's in Mississippi, right?

no doubt...and it continues.."well, we're not saying you are back full time, more like holiday help at Macy's...." unbelievable

What has Wychor got to say about his "Hold the line/not one cent" stance?

Is it the usual politician story - say whatever you have to, no one will remember to ask later.

good luck all you xj guys...thank god sonny-boy is out of there. It was sure a pleasure flying non-rev with you folks. Those days are gone now, but will sure give a heads-up when a "mighty saab" flys over...

Well It sounded like they sent out 70 letters hoping to get 20 guys back. Im sure Management figures its 20 more yes votes for the T.A since the recalls will be back before the voting deadline. Plus they probably figure who the hell wants to come back and be part time sweat shop workers over the holidays so it gives them a chance to run through the recall list, hoping nobody comes back and they can start hiring new hires at year one pay.

They have to run through the list several times before they can give up on it. I believe the contract states that pilots can bypass until there is no one furloughed junior to them. That way, the final, obligatory, recalls go in reverse seniority.

I think management will be in for a very rude awakening when it comes time to find newhires. A few, much better, regionals are short of pilots now. The pool of folks willing to start at $20,000 (or less)/year is shrinking.
