"Northwest could have substantial leverage because there are few, if any, leasing alteratives for the craft"

Bingo!!! Imagine being the leasee of the Avro:
Either you renegotiate the Avro lease or you get them back and make 0, nada, nothin'.

It's just playing hard ball and Northwest are the masters at the game. Still thinking the Avros are gone just yet.

My God there are pearls of wisdom on this board after all.

What a month...ASA signed August 29th to operate avros/saabs/crjs for 10 more years, September 13=bankruptcy, September 24=avros get the ax.

What happened to the October 6th meeting in court just to hear a motion that they want to terminate/renegotiate their leases? I guess that date got pushed up.

What happened to the ASA that was signed August 28th? That has not been negotiated or terminated (as far as public knowledge goes) so I guess operating Avro's for 10 more years has been reduced by 9 years and 10 months.

Either this is just to scare us with threats and bs moves or they are playing illegally or there is more to this than meets the eye.

All of this went down with Steenland on our board of directors. How shady (especially the missed payments).

So when will the furlough notices go out?

I think you will find that Oct 6 is still the date and NWA is just telling the appropriate parties what they intented to ask for. I think they will get what the want, seems they always do.

The airworthiness certs. state Wells Fargo Bank - Northwest on most of them. Remember, 10 of them are owned by NWA not leased.
That is just the bank the company chose, but i wonder who is on the lease at the bank.......

I assure you if someone's lights are about to go out, there yours.

When is the saab getting friggin GPS??! Wait..... we have 3 receivers (2 operational) in our saabs yet none we can use for navigational purposes.

Well do you really need GPS? I mean you guysonly do those short legs. Only the airplanes that do the long legs really need it. Are you telling me that you guys can't find Toledo or Saginaw without a GPS?

"The AVROS currently aren't profitable but with 74 seats under new managment they could be"

- puzzling quote from steenland.

Why not 85 seats?
What new managment?
NEWCO possibly?
Or maybe just a Poker game bluff?

Perhaps 74 seats is the B/E point for the aircraft.

So, possible outcomes:
1. NWA is looking for scope relief, or a relaxation on the Avro scope clause to permit more seats, while being operated by XJ. It doesn't make much sense to switch these to a "new management" unless they are thinking of bringing them to NWA, but why cancel the leases then.
2. The leases are renegotiated.
3. Both 1 & 2.
4. NWA terminates the leases with all due diligence that it's not a shell game, but a good economic move. (After all, it's a four engine jet that doesn't outpace much other jet traffic). This move would leave XJ in a nice position to extend the finger of choice to NWA.

Did anyone else see the list of creditors that NWA owes money to in today's St. Paul Pioneer Press? US Bank was at the top of the list, being owed 1.6B.

In the end, if the Avro's dissappear by the end of the year, so much for "unperceptible change in service to the customers".
