Announced today, furloughing 100-110 pilots starting in August and then displacing 65-75 Saab Captains back to FO.

This brings back bad memories of 2006. At least back then other companies were hiring.

FYI 100-110 furloughs would go back to a DOH of about Sept 2008. Of course that all depends on what people do with the voluntary furloughs and half time lines (if those ever see the light of day).

The half time line LOA has been signed and the company has publicly committed to offering half time lines for August. I do think they will be bid for, so we'll see what happens.

Displaced to First Officer...and then will be a long time FO when things pick up again. Most of the street captains are around the 950 senority number. Most Junior Captains are around 600. So that means when things pick up again, there will be 300 eager FO's ahead in line for upgrade. The whole thing sucks.
