Terry-

First off, Freedom and Mesa cannot equate to Comair and Delta. The Delta guys stood fast and that is what kept Comair from losing their flying. Freedom on the other hand, had 54 guys from Mesa leave and start the airline. On top of that, almost 150 guys off the street came to the airline to fly ten aircraft. With 200 pilots and ten airplanes, JO had more than enough momentum to keep Freedom moving, and he was doing it. Plus, there were countless number of resumes and people awaiting class at Freedom. You would also love to know how many trips I had dropped because of those pricks. I also persued legal action through ALPA with their attorney's but for some reason ALPA legal dropped the suit.

Second, my argument about ACA's LCC is still strong in my opinion. The idea for the LCC came about before this hostile takeover crap. Goldilocks or whatever it is called would create an airline that would try to undercut the likes of existing carriers, would it not? I am not saying that there is anything wrong with this, it's just a basic tenant of business.

Lastly, Mesa is lower cost for many reasons, more than just a weak pilot group as you think. We had a tough decision to make and I hate to tell you this, but when I voted for the contract I was thinking of myself, my family, and what ALPA said was best. Sorry, but in all reality I thought we would be doing everyone a favor by stopping Freedom and the precedant of management starting an alter ego airline to bust down negotiations. I think we all thought by taking that bullet we would be doing the industry a favor. Sorry if you think we took the wrong bullet.

And please do not think that the pilot group at Mesa wants this takeover to occur. I know it's a lose-lose situation for everyone and I know what JO will try and do to you guys. But please do not forget that Mesa has never been the shining star of regionals----but we have been improving this company ten fold almost every year. You can't change anything this big overnight, even though everyone would like to think that.

as far as freedumb aire is concerned...

I was told by a guy in the YV training department that their training capacity was 125 NEW HIRES per month. (Right now there are 175 in training @YV) Freedumb had over 400 PRESCREENED apps from people who indicated they could "start ASAP" and many more in the wings. HP managers KNEW what freedumb was all about and getting some breathing room to accomidate on of their biggest share holders (JO) wasn't a problem. HP WANTED freedom to kick their own pilots in the shins, sfter all they were in Sec.6. JO would stop at NOTHING to prove his point, deep pocket managers and hungry pilots are a bad mix. freedumb was done deal, especially given that HP downsized there order, JO could have ramped up to meet the demand NO PROBLEM! Sad but true, not many pilots outside the HP/Mesa drama even KNOW about freedom air and exactly what their goal was, thank Duane Worthe for lower the flag on that battle......

And another thing....

freedumb air was hiring FLIGHT INSTRUCTORS and pilots with LESS THAN 300hrs.TT. There is NO SHORTAGE OF THOSE GUYS. How do you think Buy a Job airlines like COex, Comair Pinnicle etc are doing so well?
