Hear is an example of a Mesa camping trip. Sorry that is didn't transfer well. If you notice, the crew gets into IAH at 4:06 and leaves at 6 am. Let me ask this question. Does your contract prevent your company from building a trip like this? Woud you get a hotel for the 1:54 minute turn? -Bean

Actually, if you are on the CRJ, I can give you a tip so you don't have to look as pitiful as you are carrying around plywood boards. You can remove the seat cushion from one row, and then place it between the two aisle seats of another row. You can't sit on it, but it will give you enough a$$ support while lying down. It's gotta be more comfortable than plyboard.

The extra comfort should give you room to grow some balls..

Might be wrong, but I thought the board was to support a middle cushion.

Beantown makes a good point. If this is an example of what Mesa "camping trips" are like, I suspect everyone is over-reacting.

If QX did red-eyes with 2-3 hour "productivity breaks," we'd be waiting (sleeping/camping) in the terminal/crew room/aircraft, too. I thought this thread was about CDO's, but apparently Mesa has basically the same CDO provisions as everyone else.

But hey, keep the "wood" jokes coming. Plank you.

Thanks for posting your perspective and the pairing copy. The situation makes a lot more sense now. Let me rephrase that, it still doesn't make sense (except to J.O.), but I understand it better.

The camping trips at Mesa are NOT cdos. They are night trips with a sit (usually around 2.5 hrs). Mesa crews get hotels for cdos just like everyone else. This flying is out of LAS and are redeyes. They are not one day trips. They are part of 3 or 4 day trips that involve multiple legs.

TUS.LAS (2 Hour Sit, change planes)
LAS.AUS (3-4 Hour Sit/nap)
AUS. PHX 0730

Instead of AUS, might be SAT, GEG, SLC, PDX, etc. Note that the company makes D%MN sure that the sit is 3:59 max...if it hits 4 hours they have to get a hotel for each crewmember $$$$$

The problem here is that back in PHX domicile it's almost impossible to get good rest during the day...too many distractions.
