Good points.......
However, yes you do have to look at the work rules. 8 days off at a commuter just doesn't cut it! Maybe not for all but definitely a good portion of the population.
You also have to look at the BIGGER picture. You have to assume that YOU might be stuck at a regional for a long time. Therefore, your payscale for a 70 seat airplane cannot be that of what others are paying for a 50 seat airplane. This in turn takes advancement from all of us. Majors will have no incentive to keep some of them MD80s around. WHY? I'll just pay Joe Willy over there pennies on the dollar and profit margin stays bigger. Other regionals will argue(rightfully so in some cases) that they have to stay competitive and therefore pay you the same or lower than the copetition in order to survive. And the race to bottom CONTINUES..............
