Way more fun watching the soap opera from the sidelines than being in the middle of it. Also, with Piedmont being a small airline you get to know nearly everyone. You end up with a lot of people you have respect for, and some who become very good friends. When that happens you have concern for their well being. You know how it is man. Family...

Mesa and the PHX base

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but Mesa has a lock on PHX. No other express carrier may operate out of PHX in airways colors'.
I am sure the Piedmont crunching numbers was in response to Mesa's financial situation. PSA was asked how long it would take PSA to ramp up and cover Mesa out west, about the time Mesa was expected to rollover.

I don't get why everyone thinks that IF Mesa loses dash 8 flying, it will automatically go to PDT. How hard would it be for the losers at Colon Air to figure out a -200??

Surf... you are right... it sort of is like dealing with an ex...
I too have many good friends there Captains and FO's. I don't want to see PDT go away, because then we will have nothing to laugh at in PHL (just playing).
PDT was a great place to start. Good HARD training. The people were fun for the most part. But MGT has to go!!! Otherwise they will not go far.

When will you guys realize PDT management does not make their own major decisions?

In the corporate structure, Farrow is more like a Director of Operations, taking instructions from mainline execs. He has no control over major changes in the company.

We do whatever mainline tells us to do. If they want us to have new Q400's we get them. If we want to have Q400's we wait to see if they agree.

Stop bitching at PDT management for major decisions. Spend your efford bitching at them for things they actually have control of.

Very True. If it was up to Farrow we would have 100 Q400's on the property yesterday. Farrow does what he can with what he has. He is the one that said the RJ was a fad that will be gone soon. Looks like he was on the money with the 50 seat RJ market.

All in all Piedmont Management are puppets. Tempe makes all the decissions.

Kinda like how we shake our heads everytime a E170 taxi's by and wonder how people fly those for sub par rates.

Which is kinda like your fifty seat rates.
Just because PDT flies at 3/4 the pay they should doesn't mean Republic should up the antee and fly E-170's for 1/2 the pay they should. Its not a contest to fly the biggest plane for the least money.
