Was kind of curious myself... especially since by watching some of the other threads about class dates and such, I've noticed that people with civilian backgrounds and less overall qualifications were getting called and I wasn't.
Rather than making me want to bash Southwest for them not calling me or the guys for getting in with less time (happens all the time), I congratulate those who have gotten the call and it gives me hope that I may be on the "short-list" as well. It's too bad that other people give them crap about it; can't they just be happy for someone? Heck, a previous coworker of mine was in the first round to be called and I think it's great, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy (plus having those pictures of him and those pigs down in Mexico after the tequila shooter battle should make for a fantastic LOR someday).
Everything happens for a reason, just gotta enjoy your life for what you have and keep on keeping on... getting peeved at other people doesn't do
anyone a d*mn bit of good and in this case, shuts down the information pipeline!
My question is how they take stuff in your past and factor it into the overall quals for getting "the call" or not: way the heck back in '95 I received a Letter Of Investigation that, of course, is no longer in my files. The Fed was found to be in error, issued a letter stating such but refused to remove the LOI and my attorney said not to worry about it so I didn't. Wanting to be up-front with everything, I included it in my Southwest app where it has that question about previous letters / enforcement action (I hate that the two are combined in a question), but in doing so did I shoot myself in the foot with "too much information"?
Just trying to do the right thing, but as they said in "S.W.A.T.": "Sometimes doing the right thing isn't doing the right thing."
