So, natuarlly rhy had boom box music right?

Naturally. I've never, ever heard of a jacking or mugging done to the strains of Mozart, Gershwin, or Beethoven.

Metal, Hip hop, or Punk tends to be the music of choice for bad guys of all races.

I wasn't aware that the article even mentioned race at all. Why does it matter? Hip Hop appeals to many whites and latinos as well as black youths.

It makes you proud that he killed a young girl? What kind of man are you? The Marine isnt proud of it at al. He wishes it hadnt come down to that. I live in Atl and I saw the story.
I am also a combat veteran just back from iraq and I can tell you that I got no joy out of killing somebody. Oneof God's children. thayts not something to celebrate regardless of wheather the kids were doing something right or wrong. Those without sin cast the first stone.

Ofcourse what these kids did was wrong but to celebrate killing themis plain asinine

Flyguy6, I think you missed the point. Nobody here is celebrating that this Marine killed a girl. What we ARE celebrating is that 1 guy, armed with only a pocketknife, defeated 4 thugs armed with guns, knives and brass knuckles. The fact that they were teenagers is really irrelevant, especially these days.

The fact that a teenage girl died for her misguided stupidity is not the point. She and her group decided upon a course of action which led to disasterous results- and if you read the article, it seems that this group was responsible for other muggings as well.

It really is a shame that she died, and no, I´m not saying she got what she deserved, but that´s life. She was 17, fully capable of making her own decisions, and she made a very very very bad one. People die every day for dumber mistakes, mind you.

BTW, from one combat vet to another, thanks for serving. Your service to our country is appreciated.

OOH-RAA! Excellent work Marine! I have no sympathy for assailants dying in a mugging. I wish it happened more often. I just hope the dude in critical condition doesnt make it out of the hospital. Stupidity should be painful!!

Thanks. It is very good to be back in the states, but I think to myself. I fight for freedoms and yet Americans take those freedoms for granted

WTF is this OO-RAH thing. Ive also heard HOOAH and other variations. Its got to be the most annoying chant ive ever heard. I am proud of our armed services especially this man standing up to thugs. That phrase is simply overused and annoying.

The actual history of the phrase `Ooh-rah`comes from the Marine Corps exploits in Turkey over a hundred years ago. If I remember my history correctly, it´s turkish for `kill´.

But for you, D´Angelo, I´d like to paraphrase Jeep: it´s a Marine thing- you wouldn´t understand.

`Hooah` is an Army phrase- again, you wouldn´t understand.

Rez, It seems you're following the lead of Davegriffin. You seem to want attention and are looking in the wrong place. Perhaps an Oprah bulletin board would be more appropriate for the likes of your opinions. Good Luck. BMD

As usual BMD, you are commenting on a topic upon which you are unqualified.

If it had been you strolling the streets of Atlanta late at night, your pockets stuffed with per-diem check cash (as all P-3 drivers in foreign places do to attract hookers), you too would have been a target of the thug perps.

Without a weapon, you could have used your verbal combat skills, wearing your attackers down with endless tales of your exploits in Sigonella.

Your anger and intense P-3 complaining about your disassociated sea tour would have given you the fortitude to defeat your attackers.

Following the physical activity of fighting off your attackers, you would have taken the traditional PPC 90 min. nap, refreshed and ready to return to the fight.

Thank you BMD.

Hey Dave don't knock P-3 pilots, they faced tuff choices before each flight. I mean these were life and death decisions. How many others had to face decisions like I wonder what the in flight meals choices are today, or is it going to rain in Athens and should I take my windbreaker. Or if I only load 45K of fuel I will have to stop at Lajes and pick 12 cases of Matuse (sp.?), or I should plan on clearing customs at Brunswick, and order the Lobsters over HF on the in bound leg. I mean were tuff decisions, so don't knock your brothers in the maritime patrol community.

do you think that Chesty Puller and Audie Murphy ever go rounds?

Of course, and Chesty is 0 for 3. He should've known better than to #$%& with an Infantryman. Geez. :smash:
