Was just reading the post by Enigma about management and their attitude towards pilots. Am curious about how management at the larger airlines gives the elitist attitude to pilots.

In an airline situation where they management cannot assign trips or bases and everything is based on seniority how can management play around with pilots (apart from the pay issue)?

In a lot of the European and Asian carriers I have heard that even within the pilots there exists an "old boys club." Is this true of US airlines as well?

Am not looking to start fires out there; just curious about what I am getting myself into pursuing an airline career.

half

Most of the pilots out there in the upper one third of seniority of pilots at a major make more than all but the upper 15% of management, work less, and have tons more of free time than the rest.

The disparity is at the bottom and for the most part everything is totally out of balance and totally out of any relativity with outside jobs or industries.

Other than that, it is a great industry that cannot get along with each other for more than a minute. Where else in American, can someone whine about being underpaid at $150k a year and tons of benefits.

Aviation makes no sense at all, I suppose that is why people like it.
