I think that ABX and SWA are similar in this regard. At both companies you can make a significant amount of money by picking up extra trips on your days off. Works well if you don't mind giving up a lot of your time off.

I rarely pick up any additional flying myself. Almost two years ago I wanted to make a big purchase so in a 30 day period I picked up about 80 hours of additional pay credit which was a little over $10,000 before taxes.

Old women? Right, we are not talking about TWA here...this is SWA!! Babes, all of 'em.

I DH on SWA all the time and all I see are fruit loops, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I've never picked up any stinkin' trips on my days off. I can find much more enjoyable things to do with my time rather than get radiated in a giant beer can, to each his own though.

Yep. I agree. I only pick up open time on the rare occasion that I want to buy something that doesn't otherwise fit in my budget. Last time I did was almost two years ago.

What I'd like is the deal that they have at SWA where you can drop trips as long as someone else picks them up.

We have that at AWA as well. An electronic trade board where you post your trip and if someone wants it they just pick it up via computer/laptop. Scheduling is not involved in any form. Nice, but it's tempting to give away your paycheck every month!
