Whether you like the add or not, you have to think that Spirit will be f***ed if they don't change their screwed up business model.

My daughters traveled on Spirit recently, the oldest is 17, and while sitting on the AC waiting to get clearance to DTW she asked for a water. The FA said, "you don't look old enough to have a credit card and waters are $1." After telling the FA she had cash the FA said they don't take cash...wtf over????

First of all, to charge for a friggn' drink is ridiculous and second, what does it say about Spirit if they don't trust their employees enough to even allow them to handle cash....

I'm sorry to say this to all you Spirit folks, but if I were you I'd be applying anywhere else, because no matter what your ticket prices are, people will be fleeing that kinda customer service, and you won't get the customers back....

How low was the fare again? - the cashless cabin happens at a few other airlines as well so dunno if it is a trend or not.........just wanted to point that out.

Unfortunately customer service is not the top priority for most airlines anymore. To be listed as the first airline on a travel website with the lowest fare is...........

Almost forgot.....water is 2 bucks now........

Greenbayfan, they have been cashless for a long time. It's easier and more efficient in that no one has to balance cash, account for cash or make change. It has nothing to do with trust or the lack thereof. It's also more sanitary as the FA's are not handling filthy money (and money is really germ ridden!) while serving you beverages! More and more transportation businesses will be going that route.

They make it very clear on their website that they are cashless and that they charge for everything beyond the seat and carry-on. So, why the gripe? You, greenbayfan, knew what you were purchasing. If you wanted the frills, you have to buy them. But, if you don't want them, you are not charged for them.

So the people who used to show up with huge carry-on's and two over stuffed checked bags that weighed a ton now get charged. They are the ones necessitating the extra fuel expenditures to carry the weight. If all you have is one carry on, then you are not charged. It seems simple to me.

I've heard the same sentiments while waiting to board other airlines in the past year. As people watched others clog up the line with tons of luggage, they said that others should pay for that, because they knew they were despite the fact that they were not using that! They did not think that was fair. And I've heard talk about the food and drinks--let those who want it either bring it on board or buy it. Those who don't want it, should not subsidize those that want the service. This is just a report of what I've been hearing as an observer who travels 200M miles/year for business. So, don't shoot the messenger.
