2 words... Taco Palenque!!! 3 dollar pitchers of Margarita's and a large amount of really good mexican food... open 24 hours... The mall lends some great people watching also. Good luck. I feel your pain!

If you go "downtown" look for the La Posada hotel, a couple good restaurants to eat at and an OK bar. And there is always "Danny's" near the central square for a cheap meal.

Some very good bars and restaurants just across the border, "Carlos & Charlies" is a big hang out.

A word of warning..... DO NOT hang out on Mexico side alone after dark, the place is not safe!

Don't forget when you leave LRD to Grab the American Flag before you leave.

Stay heads-up when out and about. Laredo can be a rough town. I'd be careful being out alone after dark.

Oh man nothing like a night out with your boys at cheers in laredo followed by taco palenque!!! If you go across the border take a cab to the compound, bring cash and dont get too wasted or you could just have a buddy use his amex the day before he quits AJI.....

A day late now, but if you're ever back, I'll give a third to Taco Palenque. Also near the airport is El Oasis, and a bit farther away is El Mariachi. Phenomenal breakfast burritos. And as MrSky mentioned above, Danny's on the square has the best frijoles borrachos I've ever had outside of homemade.
