Can you guys please help me out?

I am a newly minted CFI-CFII-soon to be MEI and will be looking for a job in southern California.

What is the best way to go about this? I don't really have any connections. Do I just show up lookin' nice and ask to speak to the cheif pilot? Do I call ahead?

Also, if you guys can recommend any good flight schools in the SoCal area that'd be much appreciated.

Thank you for your help and insight

I'd look into John Wayne Airport, and possibly Santa Barbara. Outside of those places, I'm not really sure. I don't suggest any of the places that I instructed which were CNO, RAL, AJO, and L12. I've heard French Valley has a good sized school out there. The San Diego area might have some more options as well.

Good Luck

Like you said, show up nice and ask to talk to the head honcho, be it chief pilot, owner, bottlewasher, whatever. He/she can tell if you're enthusiastic and are anxious to work. Remember, it's a business, the hiring person must feel that you'll keep the customers coming back. When they leave, so does the revenue. Revenue, that's that'll you hear over and over throughout your career!!

Best of luck. This is an exciting time; you'll always look back at your first job. I hope you quickly find it and enjoy it, for it can set the pace for the rest of your flying career.
