Well they're not directed at you are they? For the most part you are not as insulting as your fellow HA pilots who are now posting here. If somebody wants to give it to me, well then I'll just give it right back. That's one of the problems with Hawaii, you don't have hockey. You would understand that the one who gets the penalty isn't always the one who instigated it.

Sounds like you are a hockey fan? You'll appreciate this, can't mention names but we have a pilot here that formally was an NHL player. Was mostly with Pittsburgh, he led the league in penalty minutes (if you google him you tube has about dozen fights with him in it) yet is as nice and mellow of a guy as you would want to know. He also played for the LA Kings with Gretzky.

As 808 said , how often do you see something about HA on here? Yet you are SWA guy indicating we are going off too much, on FI. The board that primarily has SWA pontificating on their airline.....Is only SWA allowed to?
Personally I'm enjoying it and not in the least wound up about it. We won the debate, and not single decent rebuttal that counters our argument!
Btw the way as a matter of fact, I did go " catch a wave" after weeks of crappy north winds we had an epic day yesterday of south easterly winds and great surf. Got it coming home from my PDX layover were I had a great snowboard session at Timberline!( you can just call me General Dan now )

I also flew with an IRO couple of days ago who spent two years in the NHL in the late 80's... who tells me there's even a 3rd former NHL guy with us.

It's funny, they (SWA guys) keep coming back here to argue their points.. On a thread titled "Hawaiian A320 pay rates"

Which originally had nothing to do with SWA...

Now who's fault was that... I sense a pattern with SWA guys (on this forum), who like to argue... or start discussions that lead to arguements when the discussion doesn't go their way or not everyone agrees with them.

You are correct that we are all pawns and at the mercy of management decesions. It seems SWA changed from taking care of it's employees and created new jobs in favor of corporate growth when they bought AirTran.

I'm just pointing out the fact that, not you or me per se, but the whole string makes a clear case of how unmatched the 2 airlines are. Two completely different business models that actually don't connect very well. But if you think a relatively small AirBus hub in HNL is a good idea for SWA to "grow", well, than have at it. Not a single credible rebuttle to those facts has been posted on here by any SWA pilot other than..."well anything can happen"

FlynGuy, since the General's on the beach, someone has to do it......Let's say your management has in fact lost the plot, How would your pilots feel about being fenced out of the widebodies and inter-island flying? Obviously it would go to arbitration, and career expectations is the biggest factor, especially in a hostile takeover of a healthy company, so it's very realistic that all that flying in HNL would have a fence around it. So how would that feel?

How can it be rebutted? It's just your opinion. And not such a compelling one that it negates a possible scenario. Are you saying you don't give SWA even a remote possibility of buying you? I say 1/3 chance.
You seem to be hoping its 1%. But it's just your hope.
The idea would be to springboard off your overseas expertise to grow a worldwide route structure. You do it and do it safely. That is our stated direction so why wouldn't we acquire some good knowledge/experience at what appears to be a good price. As for the type of airplanes...well, we bought an airline and got rid of 2/3's their airplanes and as annoying is that is for us on the SLI side of things, we'll be fine just a few short years later.

That would be fine by me. I am not trying to pick a fight or say that we (the pilots) are trying to piss on your parade. I am simply stating that SWA management has shown their cards. They no longer cherish the internal customer and organic growth. That is why I think HA is on their radar. Of all the airlines, you are a well run and INEXPENSIVE airline. Are we different? Absolutely. That's probably one of the main reasons why they won't pull the trigger. So, to wrap up......

You guys have a great thing going and I am happy for you. I hope SWA never merges, buys, acquires, or whatever again. I think it sucks for all seniority structured employee groups because we always take it in the shorts for the managers. So Dan and all your fellow HA bros....go catch a big one and don't work to hard!!
