And as far as all the petty SWA comments here because we don't want to merge with you. Nothing personal guys, we don't want to merge with anyone. But clearly a merger with DAL would create more opportunities and less conflict (good luck trying to rationalize 737 pilots from the mainland doing our International flying or Inter-Island flying in arbitration!). But the main reason is if SWA thought adding a relatively small International hub in Hnl along with a profitable inter island operation (that could not be operated by SWA's 737's profitably at the current fares) would be a good fit then they have totally lost the plot. A merger between HA and either SWA or AK would simply create a little wannabe legacy like USAir/Piedmont/PSA did. The odd man out of the airlines.

Like I said, Southwest is the ugly girl at the end of the bar after a long night of drinking... only looks good now since the rest of the industry's contracts were gutted ....

No you moron, it looks good because its always gone in one direction, UP. You probably think that HA has been a better stock than LUV, we've never stiffed our shareholders. Where do you guys get your aviation knowledge, a Luau?

Don't worry, Southwest has no need to acquire your airline, I can't see how it would make any sense at all. We will be in Hawaii one day, on our own.

Canyon, with all due respect, your posts are an example of an attitude that get's it's ass kicked over here. Hawaii is a great place, but it has little tolerance for the ignorant," do you get your info from a Luau? do you guys all live in grass shacks? " etc. mentality. The SWA corporate image on flightinfo.com is not something that would garner a whole lot of respect in Hawaii. You may fly here someday, however, HAL ordering all those NEO's may have put a damper on that.

first sign of someone getting defensive... the ad hominem attacks begin.

I'll just say this... I have never wanted to work for Southwest, nor have I ever applied... not even after I was furloughed at AA... I didn't get into flying for a living to bounce between the same domestic city pairings over and over for 30 years... something it looks like you've been doing your entire career from what I looks like by your profile.. Should you ever start to cross the Ocean (and the East Pac is a joke compared to the rest of the world) .. it will be interesting to see how you handle the lack of radar coverage .. After all, wasn't it as a result of all the R-NAV departure fails you guys had in LAS that we're all now having to turn on our autopilots' at 500' when departing R-NAV? :)

I'm in Tokyo right now enjoying a company paid vacation and the culture of a great country... I was in Auckland last week and New York the week before.. something I'd have to do on my own time if I worked at Southwest... thanks but no thanks.

Ahhh, General Lee is gone so I guess it's time to find something else to act like a bunch of defensive babies about....

Many of us have absolutely no interest in your airline... (never applied, never had planned to) We each have our own reasons.. Get over it... You guys were the darlings of the industry for a few years back after 9/11...Now your just becoming another disgruntled airline with long upgrades and a changing business model... it happens

^^^^ what he said... we are happy why can't you be happy? you guys have it so great then who gives $h..? put on your big boy pants and just be proud you have a job with a good company...

Yes, you guys do get very defensive. Don't slam Southwest and not expect a retort.

Do you understand that we have thousands of pilots that HAVE flown all over the world? We have many Ex-DAL, UAL, AA pilots here that have been more places than I can imagine. Also, thousands of Military pilots who have done the same.

Funny that we don't have to turn our autopilots on at 500', nice idiotic rumor you've started. Once again a rumor without fact, but you say it anyway.

Sorry you have to be away from home so much, the number one reason I applied to SWA (before 9/11 by the way) was for the days off. I have a family and a golf game that needs work, so no matter what airline I would end up at, the job description of sitting in a cockpit flying a plane would be the same everywhere. The only control I would have would be how many days I would have to give to the company, Southwest proved to be the least. I've been to Europe and Asia, and at this point in my life I enjoy being home the most. If any airline wants 12 days of my life a month, it better be worth it. Oh, and when I show up at work could I please get my flying in for the day in less than 9 hours, Thank You Southwest.

Well they're not directed at you are they? For the most part you are not as insulting as your fellow HA pilots who are now posting here. If somebody wants to give it to me, well then I'll just give it right back. That's one of the problems with Hawaii, you don't have hockey. You would understand that the one who gets the penalty isn't always the one who instigated it.

3 anonymous guys say something on the internet and you guys convince yourself we're pining for you??

HA guys are the one saying SWA's the ugly girl at the bar as if you're in a position to take any girl home.
Bottom line we have the option to buy you at any time. And that clearly scares you. I don't mind that you're happy with current things- I was before air tran too. Didn't change the decision GK made.

I still think it's a possibility and you guys just show your own insecurity when you puff out your chests on FI about it

If it happens - nothing on FI will affect the outcome- I know that
