Hey, as long as you post stuff from your own company that is 100% legit, more power to you. But if you post wrong info on my company, I'm going to flame you. And it's not because I want to defend my company. It's so that guys trying to get a job can make the right decision based on the facts. Wherever you are getting your info, it's not exactly precise.

Anyone know if XJet is actually hiring non-US citizens? I know they're getting at least the first interview....but wondering if there is any non-citizen that has made it all the way since they started hiring again?

seriously though, the old interviews pre-9-11 were weird. Nowadays I have heard nothing but good things. The no pay during indoc blows but at least they'll pay for your hotel. cough!! ACA.

No scars here, chief, and sorry about your lack of a sense of humor. I remember it well, though, because I thought it was a very strange and insulting experience.

Needless to say, I have moved on . . . . just like your former RJ Captains that we have hired here at AirTran.
 
Skywest DOES give hotel...albeit a shared a shared room at the Candlehood. Still no pay in training...which isn't cool, but hopefully that will be rectified soon.

i'm sure that express jet is a great place...

I'd give my left nut for a precious XJET interview. I didn't make it past the phone screening (1800/200 at the time.) My 90 days is almost over and I'm ready to do it again.

It shouldn't matter who pays what during training. If you want to put a dollar amount on it, make a spreadsheet to account for the future value of all salary and benefits 5 years down the road. Of course, you can't put a figure on things like quality of life, bases, etc. Of you were real nerdy, you could assign metrics to those things and compare them to other airlines, but then that is a bit much. If it were me, i'd be all over it like white on rice.

Look, Junior, it DOES matter. It is a job. You are working. If your time is worth so little, go do something else.

While you're making your spread sheets, there, Sport, why don't you determine what the value of those three or four months of working for free were worth by the time you retire? And, why don't you tally up the "intangible costs" to morale, the detriment to future wage negotiations (due to staring from "free" and the interest that most of you will pay on the debt you will undoubtedly acquire while working for free for 3 or 4 months?

Somebody else want a turn with this fool?

At our company we provide new hires with a 65-hour pay guarantee starting your first day of training (your hire date). You are also provided a $450 housing allowance (for the 4 weeks) and your hotel is paid for during simulator training (2 weeks in MSP). When you complete training you are then bumped up to the 75-hour guarantee. I'd have to check our Policy manual to see the per diem policies when out of base (sim training).

It is your whoreing attitude that is dragging an entire segment, if not eventually the enitre industry, down. Stop trying to lowball the next guy. I know you low time guys don't like to hear this, but if we all stuck together and quit working for less than slave wages, this could be a very enjoyable career. But with Mike's willingness to give up his manhood for a interview attitude, we get what we deserve.
