Saw this in a press report today. Any truth to this?

http://news.enquirer.com:80/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080221/BIZ01/802210334/1076/BIZ

Meanwhile, some Delta pilots are seeking to recall the leaders of their union chapter because they think that rank-and-file members have been left out of the talks.

Also heard talk that the ATL Reps had called a special MEC meeting to be present at the negotiations because they were being kept totally in the dark, and in fact went there, and now they are subject to a recall effort as well?

I'm sure you NWA guys would love to think their MEC reps are getting recalled in the middle of a sensitive negotiation.

I didn't make this up.

Confirm or deny.

Personally I think it's total bunk, more non-news being re-reported and cut/pasted from previous AP stories which were timed press "release/leaks" from "someone close to the talks"....aka management, intended to divide and conquer the pilot groups. Management would love to have this deal go through without a unified pilot group operating under one improved contract. Why should they when they can go ahead with the merger without us on board and have us work for the current payscales and get nothing out of it for 3-5 years while we fight each other in court over SLI. In the end we will end up getting what was offered to us in the first place only 5 years from now....in the meantime we are and will continue to be cheap labor.

I hope the whole thing falls apart as the ONLY ones that will come out ahead in this mess is the hedgefund pukes, the BOD and management.

I don't believe for a nano-second that any DAL pilot would suggest a recall in the middle of negotiations, Lee Moak and crew are doing the best they can given the hand dealt them. We are being "left in the dark" for a reason, they were elected to represent us and that's what they are doing. If we as a group were let in on the minutia of details, unfortunately it would find it's way on this board within minutes and in the papers shortly therafter....do we really want that during negotiations? No, WE don't....but I bet you a cup of coffee that Management DOES.

I commend Lee and the DAL MEC for keeping a lid on things!

I have not heard this from my Delta buddies. This is BUNK - an example of divide and conquer...

Yea I agree its probably BS. Our MEC at NWA has been tightlipped as well, which is the way it should be. All this conjecture is I believe the result of lack of information and the creation of vivid imaginations. It does no good to argue back and forth about who deserves what or is getting hosed because of career expectations ect. IMHO its best to withhold judgement and/or any animosity until we actually see the deal, if there is one.

I will believe it when I see it.

I look at abiding by your confidentiality agreements as a good thing. Our guys seem to be professionals who resist the temptation to call their buddies during the process. Leaks which seem to be coming mostly from the other side seem to be a sign of a lack of discipline and a weak position. All leaked info does is stir the pot, as it has, and harden positions.

Both sides obviously have valid arguments and once the spirit of cooperation goes, its almost inevitable that this goes to arbitration, I think. While better than a bad deal, the bad part is that there will be no equity and status quo contract language for the next several years. Basically no participation by the pilot group in the benfits of the merger.

Lee Moak was not elected by the pilot group!

One Delta pilot has asked thatat the next regularly scheduled council 44 meeting a resolution to recall the LEC reps be made an agenda item.

This individual also has a side business giving financial advice to Delta pilots, many of them retired or close to retirement. He's been quite successful at helping pilots lose money in the market.

Many of the DAL guys probably know who I'm talking about.

I very much doubt he'll get any traction on this.

There was a recall effort several months, it was placed on the agenda and no one ended up bringing it to the floor.

I think the LEC44 reps have a broad base of support, but any single member in good standing can always bring forth a resolution.

Actually it is going around the school house. I know that their one person in particular from Local 44 that is trying to recall the LEC.

It is mr AFA.

He's trying to recall Moak and company but first he needs puppets in the LEC because only the LEC's can recall the MEC.

Longshot at best and WAY too late in the game to have any meaningful impact on merger stuff.

Disagree with most of this guy's politics but he did make me 29% on my DC fund last year....

Why is he trying to recal the MEC? If its just one guy, what is the gist of his grieveance?

May have something to do with Moak's handing over the Delta Pilot's defined benefit plan. It didn't have to happen. Moak traded short term gain for long term pain.
