Here's what I learned from a B767 Captain last night.
It's just the second 767F--the yellow one. The first 767F--the white one--did not have the problem.
The door is a Boeing door. It's built in China and shipped to Isreal for installation. That one door has a problem with the latching mechanism where some of the torque tube's holes are too large. Don't know if the problem was introduced at manufactur or if they enlarged the holes in Isreal when installing the door. The extra play in the system is causing misalignment and problems latching in certain circumstances. By leaving out one container they are able to latch the latch from the inside but they have to leave that position empty for there to be room to do it.
The Captain to whom I spoke did not know what the permanant fix will be. The third 767F, which will also be yellow, is still in Isreal.
