I live in the Twin Cities, and today on PioneerPress.com (primary St. Paul newspaper) the top story is still NWA 188.

I'm amazed, a Major in the Army shoots up his base killing a dozen people, then national deficit is in excess of 12 billion dollars, and scientists spot a new planet that may support life; what's the leading story!?

A fricken Airbus that landed 30 minutes later than it should have, a month ago.

A fricken Airbus that landed 30 minutes later than it should have, a month ago.

If only it were billions and not trillions, lol (but I know it was a typo). More to the point, if those two clowns had done the MSP overflight the day before the Tiger-ama started, they'd probably have been spared the revocation as the pressure would been off the feds for theatrics.

If only it were billions and not trillions, lol (but I know it was a typo). More to the point, if those two clowns had done the MSP overflight the day before the Tiger-ama started, they'd probably have been spared the revocation as the pressure would been off the feds for theatrics.

Yeah okay, there's more to it than a late flight, and I'm not in anyway excusing the actions of this crew. It was 100% dereliction of their duties, no matter how you cut it. In the end though, this is hardly worth the attention it has garnered and astonishingly the attention it continues to receive!

This was not an earth-shattering event, airplanes are flown by people, and occasionally people do stupid things... what a shock! Although the potential was there, no one was hurt, no metal bent and still this is the lead story! Really!?

Another of their many mistakes in this event was doing it on a slow news day. I'm sure if this had happened after the base shooting, it would have been a mere sidenote in the news and maybe congress would not grind to a halt trying to find a solution to Airlines pilots distractions. As an example, Delta landed a 767 on a taxiway the week prior, but very little discussion if any of that incident in the national media.

Forget about slow news day (ok well discount it a little), the internet age has allowed mountains to be made of mole hills. Along with cable TV, the instant dissemination of information makes non-events events.
