Why would you come on a board wher epeople come toseekadvice and tear their dreams down? If a person has a desire to be a professional pilot why try and tear them down just because you dont like it? Not everyone is getting into it for the 100K pay. I myself am fine with $70-80K. Why berate your own profession?

You're missing the point. We all love to fly, we all do work like you cite (most of us anyway). It is great most of the time. But.....if you have to do it for the pay, eventually it'll come to bite you. So, the point is (as Pilotyip says well) fly because you like to (or love to) -- not because you HAVE to.

You have a medical problem, you want to see an experienced Dr. You have a legal problem, you want to see an experienced lawyer. You want a flying career, why not listen to experienced pilots? Plenty on the forum.

Well Fugawe, it has been a great ride, I am more than likely your age, and I pray I will still feel the same in 10 years, if not I will do something else. Simple! I know not everyone can just " do something else" but I choose to use my off time doing just that. The only point I was hoping to make is that for someone looking to get in this career field, there are some great jobs in aviation, it can give you a hell of a great life, and that it is not all doom and gloom in aviation. These post's are filled with angry people who hate flying and I don't. I think this is the greatest job out there. Sorry, I am happy, positive and love my job. I am happy you have a billion hours and Big Iron types( I love Boeings and you are a fortunate guy to have been able to fly the best). I just wish once and a while someone can say they enjoy their job without getting whacked here for saying it.

Hmm, I don't see it as 'smart-mouthing' -- perhaps I come from a more matter-of-fact background......i.e. say what you think. No offense intended.

You make good points. I think we view the picture similarly, but write differently from diff perspectives. I don't view the glass as half empty either. Perhaps the posts indicate that to you.

I simply advocate a lifestyle that doesn't force you to depend on the flying job........this will ensure you keep loving the 'job'. It's really not the job you love, it's the flying. If the job aspect becomes a burden, the associated flying will suffer. A simple truth many discover only too late. Ask the Delta guys. I've got many friends there and they certainly are not talking about any of the great trips they fly.

You are fine with 70-80k? How old are you? Do you have a Family? Own a home? Can you afford to retire at age 60? 70-80k is chump change for someone with a wife and a kid or two. Homes are $$$. Kids education is $$$. Saving for retirement takes $$$. I bet you will change your tune when you get older. Time will tell.
