Anyone out there right now thinking about getting into this retarded industry STOP!!!! Go check out schools that teach you trades, such as electrical, welding, or heating and cooling to name a few. As a poor flight instructor who is in debt beyond your wildest dreams please take this advice seriously. This country is hurting for qaulified technicians in these related fields. I will be attending school on heating and cooling myself part time here in a few months. Just consider this a friendly public announcement.

Positive action gets positive results. Negative action gets negative results.

Pattern-Master: I do feel for you but your problem is all negativism, and from your experience level you’re just getting stated. In this business your experience says to me that you're just getting "INTERESTED IN AVIATION."

You have done the hard part now it's just time to figure how to make a living in this industry. Maybe its corporate, maybe it's aircraft sales, maybe it's the flight school business. All can make money. Airlines can make money too.

But more than anything, and I mean no disrespect here, its YOU.

In my area the CFI's leave the FBO's as quickly as they are hired. None are working as CFI's longer than about 6-months and then it’s off the commuters or the corporate jobs. After a few years at the commuters there’re ready for any job: FedEx, Jet Blue, or Flying for a Fortune 500 company. I see people who do this all the time. And those corporate jobs pay over 100K.

Pattern-Master just be patient and set your sights higher. And if you want to go beyond the traffic pattern, I suggest changing your name from “Pattern-Master” to something like "Galaxy-Master." You must set your sights on the stars, not the traffic pattern. Instead of no avitar you need an image of how you want to see yourself. Maybe as the pilot you want to be, not as the heating and air-conditioning repairman you've become interested in becoming. Herein lies the problem from the few clues you have provided.

Remember the law: Positive actions get positive results. Negative actions get negative results.

I do believe this.

Do I recommend the aviation profession to young people? I have to my son and my son-in-law and both are corporate pilots, formerly commuter airline pilots and formerly CFI’s just like you.
