So, I've searched around a good bit and still had a couple of questions. If somebody is in the know it would be a great help; I've got a Connie interview coming right up...

1)Just how "low-time" are the SO's? Is there a shortage of them, or are they kind of a farm team for when the FO applicant pool dries up?

2)New-hires still pay for hotel until simulator time, right?

3)Do you guys really get NHRA tickets?

4) Sounds like a nice deal. Probably not for everybody, but there you go.

5)One of the huge complaints I've heard about is scheduling, but if they own you for 17 days, who gives a bunny's behind if things seem spastic? Just wondering.

Thanks much!

sorry but i can only answer #1, i know of a 2k hour f.o interviewing next week... i was also told that an fo with less than 2k has been hired in the past.
shortage? yes.

Personally, I dont know any FOs without 4K+ hrs.

The sim is now in YIP, so you will be responsible for room and board for the entire time there. If things get real busy for the sim, and they start using Louisville, or Denver, it will be taken care of by the company.

Dont know anything about races, although I have heard that they dont mind guys stopping in at the shop in Michigan.

About scheduling, you come out for 17 days, you do what your told, and you have a contract you work by.

There is some growth, add the guys we lost from all the hiring and recalls, and that equals a shortage.

17 days out, can be challenging for some, can be easy for others. It all depends on your perspective. The 13-14 days off are nice. As any 3 man crew airplane, the FO has a pretty easy job, in fact, this is one of the easiest jobs in flying I have ever had.

There are worst places to work.

I met some clown @ aeroservice fair last year. He looked at my resume like it had some cat sh.t on it. Gave it back to me and said... you need more heavy jet time!

Yea there was a joke about our pilots going over the KA; One DC-9 Captain who was hired was asked "So you flew the light twins (referring to the DC-9) across the field?"

Okay, so if you have to put yourself up where do you guys shack up at for cheap at YIP?

Actually, you're on your own during initial GS. When you return for sim, KA picks up the lodging.
Maybe as a reward for completing GS successfully?

There are several crashpads around the area.

If you get the job: Kalitta will will give you some info on extended stay deals in the area. A few of us stayed at the Red Roof Inn and it was OK ,the place was just redone but that was 3yrs ago. Good luck.

Are their any trips from the US across the ponds, or do they fly you to Europe and all the trips start there?
No, we serve JFK/EWR/LAX/ANC/ORD/LCK regularly, so that is where they fly you to to start your trip.
