I will check. Requirements have changed since I started working here.

I sent a resume in a few months ago and was called a week and a half ago for an interview 11, 12, 13 Aug. I was told by their DO that the interview would be two face to faces in YIP on the 11th with the CP and I think the DO, then they get you to DEN for a sim ride, basic airmanship, then they get you home. You need to get yourself to YIP to start the process. I do not know much about them, but was told by the DO that they have 11 acft currently and that 15 to 20 would probably be the target number to get to. They are spending some cash to upgrade avionics in the -200s to have 5 screens I think is what he said. Sounds like an alright place to be in these very tough times. This type of deal just does not work for me with an Air National Guard job too. Good luck to those interviewing.

I was in the April 26th class. We had 12 F/O's. 4 quit to go back to Atlas and another guy from TWA took a LOA to do real estate. So we lost 5 out of 12!
That was not the case. These fellas were asked to leave because they didn't pass ground school. Which was pretty sad considering they had experience but were too lazy to study or pay attention.

Working for Connie always has it's challenges. Mainly screw scheduling. I would like to see the head C/S asshole leave! (I hope the admin see this thread) Aside from that, I've always been treated well by the admin and Connie himself.

So the guys with previous 747 experience failed training? Wow.

That's funny - were you in that class? I was, and they DID pass ground school. The entire class walked out of ground school with a pass - unless something changed after we all left GS.

As I understand it, all those who went back to Atlas involuntarily (3) were in or about to start sim training when they were given the choice between resigning their senority at Kalitta, or resigning at Atlas.

It is true that one of the 4 left Kalitta Air on his own, before sim training. From what I heard, the other three were interested in staying - one was 56 and unlikely to upgrade at Atlas - he wanted some captain time, so he was going to stay at KA.

Of course, sometimes the real story is different, but that's what I know...

No they don't pay for the hotel in DTW/YIP. You get $500 per week and that's about it. The training is about 5 weeks. Hotels are pretty reasonable and everyone has to bite the bullet.

The Atlas guys did not fail ground school, that's crazy. Who told you that CKS747RCC? These guys were still current on the B747. Everyone passed the class and the ground school instructor, an ex-EIA guy, was proud of the fact that no one has ever failed his ground school.

I was in class with them and Iflyer's post just about sums it up!

People more likely have trouble in the Simulator not the ground school. Remember this is older technology. Most of the flying and checkride is off the autopilot, much different than most if the other types, Airbus, B747-400, B737's.

BTW, Iflyer, how do you like heavy metal compared to the light twin you were flying? See ya on the line!

CWI, Is that Av Sim stuff (links) you posted have anything to do with MS Flight Sim ? Is it some sort of add on. I have the Classic add on (ready for pusback) already but is this something new ? Thanx

Yeah, that's FS2004 and the updated RFP plane. Ed did some tinkering to make an EFIS cockpit out of it for his personal use. Don't know if RFP ever approved him releasing it or not, but it's not available for distribution as far as I know.

If they'd fix some issues with their Flight Model, it'd be a great plane. As it is, it moves like it's a lot lighter than the UAL 742 sim did when I flew it a couple years back.

Kalitta?

Aren't there 747 contract operations out there that pay a lot more than Kalitta?
NCA, JAL, etc? Those companies have retirements and pay better, don't they?
