Kalitta is really no different than other airlines, better in many cases.

But remember if you've been at Kalitta for 10 or more years the pay is very good, if you're a new hire or only have a few years under your belt the pay is rather low.

Comparing the paysclaes with Atlas, Atlas is way ahead. Starting pay is like $70 hr vs. $43 etc.

Ils to minimums,

You mentioned Atlas paying so much more, however, with Atlas your commuting to England to go to work, (at least that is where I believe Atlas is presently hiring for).. Where as Kalitta often times will buy you a ticket from home to start your days on. If you take some time to research the two companys there are very important lifestyle tradeoffs you would make. I only post this because I thought it's important when your looking for future employment to see more than just the posted salary. I'm neither an old timer, nor a new bee, but what I know from working in the industry is, it's always worth looking and researching all aspects of an operation before you would choose to apply. This way when it comes time to interview your not only knowledgeable about the job you've applied for, but your enthusiasm to work at that company shows. Best of wishes in your job search!
True, but eventually those newhires will be able to bid back to the US is my understanding. I don't know how long that would take, but sure looks like an options later on down the road. Rgds.

Potrack

Which company are you refering to? Atlas or Kalitta ?

I think it would only take a knucklehead to go on another carrier's board and call them knuckleheads. You know what pothead oh I am sorry its potrack why dont you take your knucklehead mind on another board and make your comments there. See how they like you since you obviously have nothing good to say about Kalitta.

See ya around pothead Oh sorry again its potrack

The Atlas guys did not fail ground school, that's crazy. Who told you that CKS747RCC? These guys were still current on the B747. Everyone passed the class and the ground school instructor, an ex-EIA guy, was proud of the fact that no one has ever failed his ground school.

It's my understanding that the sim ride is part of initial training and therefore included as part of ground school. You have to pass both to continue on with IOE.

I don't know anything. I've only been here over 10 years, I'm not a young know it all.

10 years? I thought they started back up in about 2000, after the Kitty Hawk mess. So I guess you're back for the reach around this time from Kalitta. Did you start at year 1 pay again or did they count your longevity?

Zeeman.... Your the Man !!!

B-747dog.... Yes they did count longevity. ;)

 There's one in every crowd.... thanx again for everyone's input but i have a couple more questions concerning training.. is five weeks the total time needed to complete training, i mean ground school and sim, or is the 5 weeks just ground?

Hawkerjet

You have 5 weeks of ground school in KYIP, which includes company indoc, security, hazmat, B747 systems ground school, CMA-900 training, international operations training and an exit oral given by one of the local check airman or the ground school instructor. You must pass the exit oral before you can go to the simulator. And remember you are on your own for lodging and you received $500 per week and no perdiem.

Then you will get any where from one to three weeks off before going to the simulator which will be about another 16-18 days. Lodging is paid for and you receive $1.50 per hour perdiem, or $36.00 per day.

After a few more days off, probably a week. Who knows?

You will get 25 hours of observation time in the airplane to learn how to use the onboard computer programs, the Trimble IO-2101, and the Litton 92's and the CMA-900. This is familiariztion training so you have some idea of the systems before starting your IOE which can be as little as 25 hours to 50 hours or more, depending on your past experience.

Once you finish IOE your paperwork is faxed to the company and reviewed after that you are released to crew scheduling. Let the adventure begin!

If Kalitta gave you longevity pay from the original Kalitta I'll have to take back all those bad things I've ever said about Connie.
