All CRJ Flight Crewmembers

Purpose:
To notify all pilots to discontinue the use of huffers to operate the packs on the CRJ.

Synopsis:



Maintenance has determined that huffers do not supply enough air to operate the packs

on the CRJ. Using a huffer for pack operation causes the pack to overheat, sending
smoke into the cabin of the aircraft.

It's all the dipshi_t's that turn them on while the huffers on low. When it's on high/engine start they work fine! Once again someone that doesn't understand the system fuks up a great procedure. Okay rant over

No APU or cool air= no fly

We have this in our POH:

• Note •
During airplane operations when the flight deck and
cabin temperatures are above 30°C (86°F), the air
conditioning system must be operated or low-pressure
ground conditioned air must be supplied to the aircraft.
Conditioned air is required to maintain EICAS and EFIS
display temperatures

No APU, no ground air, not legal to fly.
 
It's also been added to the FOM. APU inop with right pack deferred any time, APU or pack inop above 30C and lav inop on flights BLOCKED more than 1.5 hrs. It's in section 4-2.1. It says normally won't be dispatched. To me it's one of those situations where I'll get it to a maint base, but won't fly extended line ops.

Ya'll need to come ride on the SAAB out of LGA this summer! We'll try real hard to get that AirCart for ya! And let me get a copy of those POH/FOM's for our future revisions!! Be good! CC
