If you still have a choice, take the one with the earlier class date, be it indoc or FSI. Congrats and welcome aboard.

SH, I was a weird one. Originally interviewed early Dec (yes 2007). Not hired or told no for months. Mid-Feb asked to come back for sim only. Did that 3/12. Called 3/20 but only Ultra availible. I waited and was called again yesterday. I took the Sovereign with indoc on 4/28. A long and sometimes frustrating wait, but it worked out in the end.

I aslo got the 400xp with an indoc of may 12th, sim in TOL Jun 2nd. I am very excited!!! For those out there that want to know, I sent my app in right after thanksgiving, got the app acceptence mail early jan, invited to interview early feb, and interviewed Mar 5/6. Captain 007, Ill see ya may 12th.

So, did you turn down the slot for the Ultra and wait for something else? That's ba!!sy... Glad it worked out for you in the end.

I'm not an idiot. I asked what it would mean if I turned down the offer. She said "no problem, I'll call you next week". If there had been the slightest doubt, I would have taken the Ultra.

I was called this morning by Linda and offered the job. I have a May 12th ground school class in the Hawker 400xp. I am really excited and thankful.

Does anyone have any info on the Hawker 400xp?

Thank you and I looking forward to working with everyone at NetJets.

Oh yes, the mighty Beechjet....I mean Hawker 400XP. I've been on that plane for about 4 months now, and I think I might have 50 hours. So let's see, that would mean I fly about 10 hours a month. In fact last tour I flew 1.8 hours in 5 days!

I used to fly the 560, so sorry to hear you turned it down. Yeah, it's not sexy looking, and it's slow, but it was fun to fly.

About the 400: There are three conditions you will find the 400 in. 1) Broken, 2) Sitting hot spare all day, every day, 3) Unable to fly do to performance limitations. Other than that, on that rare occasion you actually get air-born, it's fun to fly. You'll like the spoilers for roll control, and you'll get a kick out of the endless performance charts you have to look at from time to time. (1st segment climb, 2nd, final segment, brake energy, takeoff and landing distance....and on and on and on.)

Good luck, I'm sure I will see you on line soon.

Congrats Helm!

The Sovereign is a good airplane. You can't bring enough stuff on board to fill up this airplane. The baggage is huge, the aft closet is huge, and the galley is a monster. You will enjoy all the room.

The airplane doesn't handle like a sports car but it is a nice flying airplane. The airplane isn't near as heavy as the sim will lead you to believe.

The technology in this airplane is pretty old. Cessna went with what they knew instead of breaking new ground. Some of the things you'll shake your head at and wonder WTF? But overall it is a nice airplane.

The Honeywell Epic system is a total miserable failure. Very little, and I mean very little, in this suite works. There are more limitations on the avionics then on the rest of the airplane. And yes, NJA is pissed. I went through school with our CP and the war drums are beginning to beat to get Cessna to fix this. We currently have the Phase 3 software and I compare it to Windows ME. The Phase 4 fix is two years in the making and counting so don't plan on seeing it too soon.

Avionics aside you will enjoy this airplane. Short runway numbers, amazing climb, and straight to FL410. It does have long legs and is capable of 6.5 hour trips. The typical Vref is 98 KIAS and the landing distance is your driveway. She isn't a speed demon. The Mmo is .80 and typical cruise at FL410 with 80% max weight is going to be .76-.78.

Welcome aboard! Great company and a good airplane.

I know a guy on the Encore (more advanced version of the Ultra for those who are unfamiliar) out of TEB and he rarely flies. On average he may do 5-10 sectors total during his 7-day tours. Of course the flying picks up on holidays and it depends on the time of the year. He loves the airplane (despite no APU) and he actually wants to fly more even though he can relax during the down-time. I think he intends to bid Sovereign or G200 FO when he is able to get more flying time (and tips).

Bottom line is that some fleets just don't fly as much as others and that can impact your QOL - if you would rather chill out and relax for the same base pay, try to get on the Beechjet or Ultra/Encore fleets...

On Your Six - it ebbs and flows in the Encore fleet. I came off of the Encore last fall and I can tell you that some weeks were busy and some weren't. One of my good friends is still on the E-boat and he says that some tours are basically spent ground-bound but other tours, like one he had a few weeks ago, saw him fly 30+ hours in a 7-day tour.

Lots of factors can affect life in the Encore: holidays, maintenance, area of the country and just plain old luck of the draw. I just mention this so no one new to NetJets gets the impression that Encore crews just sit around all day.

.76! Wow....

If we want to slow to that we usually just shut down both engines and let the APU exhaust push us! :p

Cue the X comments....

Got your email and sent the card!

What we lack in speed we make up for in legs. We have been BUSY!

Spread the word! Now if I can just convert everyone to Mac and Toyota.

What we have in speed we marry it with legs as well (my a$$ is not pleased about that.) Plus the cabin is pimping big...so big I should really have a standup vacuum!

I ran into a 680 crew the other day (they are all ok ;) ) and they looked beat. They said they were flying quite a bit. I flew 30 hours in seven days but went to some cool places.

I hear both the G200 and the Sovereign fleets are getting a lot busier relative to some other fleets. Although the XL/XLS and X fleets still have them beat. If you like overtime I guess those are the fleets to aim for...

does the overtime come from working extra days per month, or working longer during scheuled days? just curious, thanks.

Both.

We have hourly overtime payments that kick in after 12 hours on duty in a given day. Or, if you report before 8am on your first day (as I did today), all time before 8am and all time after 9 hours of duty pays the overtime. (The rate is your annual salary, divided by 2184 hours, and multiplying the result by 1.5. A year 1 guy on the 7/7 would earn $39.06/hr, for example.)

We also earn "Extended days," which pay 1.5 times your daily rate. Those are paid for working extra days (of course), working on one of our 10 designated holidays (I cleaned up last weekend, with Good Friday and Easter!), and if the company doesn't get you home before midnight on your last day (that pays two of them). On the 7/7, the daily rate is your annual salary divided by 182 (then multiply by 1.5 for the extended day rate). For a first year guy, that's $468.75.

Amen to that started this tour with a 0720 show and did a 14 hour duty day.:D

Also I was just reviewing my last paycheck, didn't realize the 7n7 hourly rate was so much less than the 18 day. I got 47.52 per hour.

My husband was very pleased that he was able to fly the line last weekend, too. Luckily, I have some pull with the Easter Bunny and he allowed me to reschedule his visit for tomorrow morning...:p

Everyone keeps saying how busy the XL fleet is. Over the last two months I have averaged 10 hours a tour and no overtime, however two holidays last weekend did help. I have not seen an extended day since last September and I volunteer to come out every tour early and stay out longer. Oh, and by the way, today is day one, and at home I sit. However, I do understand that everything at NJA runs in cycles. I am just waiting for the hammer to drop and to fly my rear off, or atleast until I call uncle.

Want to trade? They've used the heck out of me the last three tours!

Just curious, are you west-coast based? We always hear how guys out west never work; just building up some statistical(ly insignificant) samples. :D

I am on the XL too and haven't worked too hard for quite a few months. First three days of this last tour, I didn't leave the state of Texas with a total of four legs. Slept in my own bed on nights one, two, and six. Had one day that was four legs. Other than that, my only other "long day" was a 2.5 hour limo to ferry a plane 14 minutes and done.

I think we have enough XL's now with the 680 picking up a lot of the slack. I hardly get any overtime anymore, but with the pay raise I am happy to work less and make more. Hard to complain about that.

Sorry 1900. Keep up the good work.

I am in the Mountain time zone and I start 99% of my tours out west. Usually means spending day one travel, 2,3,4 out west, 5 and 6 working my way east and day 7 flying home. If you really want to get upset, I have been to the new First Aviation once and that was the 2nd day they were there. Just talking to another XL pilot today, I would have to look at the airport diagram to see how to get to it.

Flew 21 hours last tour on the XL Pretty busy but not too bad compared to the Sh!t hole I came from!

XL not that busy??? I wish! Like CA1900 said, the last three tours have been busy. This last tour started with a 400am show with a 13.5 hour day. I haven't had a show that early since IOE over 2 years ago. This tour I think I did 17 hours , the previous tour was 22 and the one before that was right at 20. I'm on the 15 day flex too!! All tours on the last day I would fly 1 rev flight followed by a ferry to airline home. Those 680s have been keeping busy too!
