Scheduling: Hi _____, I know it's your day off, but we have a trip that we need covered and your the most Jr. available. When can you be at the airport?

Me: I am sorry but I have been drinking so I cannot fly for you today and tomorrow is not looking good either.

Scheduling: What? You cannot fly because you are drinking? It's 5:30 in the morning and you have been drinking beer?

Me: Who said anything about beer?

Again...just for clarification....can they penalize you for turning down a junior manning assignment on your day off? cut and dry answer.

I made the mistake and answered my cell phone on my day off once. The scheduler was calling to JM me. I asked are you making me come in? He said we really need you to come in. Do I have to?
We really need you. Well honestly I'm at home and home isn't in Memphis. The schedulers reply was.. "oh, well that's all I needed to hear."

I never heard anything else about it.

Next time they called and the "blocked number" on the caller id showed up I didn't answer. I waited about 3 hours or so and called them back. "I got your message where you calling to let me know of a schedule change to my trip in 3 days?" The scheduler said no we were calling to JM you but we found someone else. I said.... well I don't answer my phone on my days off... she agreed and said I was a very smart man to do that.
:D

I do know of people who have been charged with a JM refusal.. They have to go see the Chief Pilot and from what they tell me his comment was.... If you don't wont to work on your day off, don't come in.
