*sigh* How can one argue with one who understands so little? Mesa and Rebublic pilots haven't taking anything from anybody. Those jobs were GIVEN to them. Are there any regional pilots flying today in violation of SCOPE clauses? (The answer is no.) So once again, you blame others instead of yourself. If USAPA wins USAirways' destiny may finally be realized.

On the West, I believe you will see more of this, so if you need to get to work and you have a yellow USAPA lanyard, you might want to be prepared to remove it if asked. It is a direct slap in the face to the West as TWAdude pointed out and it is not unreasonable for a captain to ask for it to be removed prior to flight as I believe it can cause a real distraction depending on the person (some people get a lot more worked up over this than others - personally I think messing with the jumpseat in any way is incredibly bad karma).

In my opinion - there is no jumpseat war. But if commuters on either side think they can display offensive lanyards, stickers while keeping the status quo on an opposite metal jumpseat, they lack basic common sense. That's a familiar theme as of late.

For East - offensive would be the lanyards, big USAPA stickers, etc. For West - getting on an East airplane with a screw USAPA sticker or similar is right up there on the stupid totem pole as well.

Of course he could. He just shouldn't be surprised if the captain returns to the gate and boots his tuchus off.

All joking aside...we've seen this in the past. Anytime a J/S battle starts, the only result is that both sides end up losing...especially when it is nothing more than a trivial matter.

Ordinarily I'd agree 100% but there's an important distinction. The typical J/S wars involve captains who pre-judge the jumpseater based solely on which airline s/he flies for. This situation involves a jumpseater who deliberately antagonized the captain. Stupidity should be painful.

First I do not believe in holding the J/S hostage, we all use it to get to work and politics needs to stay out it.

That being said, I am playing devil's advocate, but I nor you or anybody else knows what actually took place. (For all we know the East guy is having an affair with the West guy's wife. So he was denied the j/s.)

Let Pro Standards take care of this issue with this West Captain. Believe me West ALPA is not advocating using the J/S for this reason, but we do have a few mavericks.

All East guys are welcome are welcome on the West j/s.

Regionals flying more and more of the domestic routes are simply a more insidious version of the B-scale. Worse b/c they fly mainline passengers all over the country but don't get a seniority number out of it. It is CLEARLY the Senior Pilots at mainline sacrificing junior pilots to keep something for themselves. I'm tired of it being framed any other way.

Man oh Man, sounds like you guys are headed right for (I'm here to help) uncle Fed, if you don't bring this down a notch. Trying to be sensitive to both sides' issues, but don't you guys have a contract that needs to be worked out?

This has got to be Parker's wet dream coming to fruition. He's high fiving all his buddies at the country club and laughing straight to the bank. All at the expense your own wallets and in an inderect way, mine as well.

I know this is easier said than done, and there's lots of people with real issues. But at some point you just have to keep moving forward. Not moving forward could mean further depletion of however little, you were able to keep. Further eye poking won't solve any of your problems. More money in your wallets will go a long way to help relieve them.

Looks like one of the East USAIR pilots was just denied the J/S on a WEST Aircraft from SFO to CLT. (Which is an original EAST route). Looks like he got denied because he was wearing a USAPA lanyard. Next time I do SEA LAS or LAS SAN or PHX SFO or PHX SLC etc. I will not let a WEST Pilot on the J/S until this is resolved. And what I am hearing , this will be done by many AAA captains.

Let the games begin.

Sorry, but while I do not work for either US or AWA, it seems to me, that the AWA has abided by the rules, whereas the Easties has done nothing but try to have their way.

Now, since the easties feels slighted, you are going to impose, through USAPA, your view of things, after all, you are 3500+ and might is right.

There was a time, when I felt the pilots at AAA had taken enough,pension robbed, paycuts, but having seen the screwjob you easties are hoping to administer, the empathy is over! At this point in time, I hope the "binding" arbitration ruling stands!

I keep hearing how if the Nic Award stands, many of you will never get to be captains. How do you explain this logic... by getting the top 500 and then being slotted in ratio-wise w/ a pilot group that you outnumber 2 to 1- how does that affect your upgrade so drastically? It's an honest question.

Especially since very few westies will come out east just to be captains... I really think you over-estimate how much anyone in this industry covets your flying. It just seems this is all about pride. And what an awful reason to be holding up an industry that NEEDS you to help raise wages.

NO. ALPA is our bargaining representative at this time. Did ALPA national screw the EAST. NO...the AAA MEC drove the bus all the way down the road to LOA 93 and recent changes....Not Duane Woerth & company (now Prater). Good news is that with all of the delays and handholding, a lion's share of the East pilots (furloughed included) now hold a captain's seat. Congratulations. Speaking of a windfall....icehole.

I just can't wait to see how you will spin how Delta pilots took your job....

Here's an idea: New ALPA merger policy...If you are sitting at 35% of your current company list, you sit 35% in the new company (as long as both carriers are financially in play)...PERIOD. Oh wait, who would pay for the lawyer's childrens BMW??
