Departmental Statement
The Operations Control Center (OCC) is responsible for planning and oversight of all aspects of Virgin America’s operation. The OCC team will be focused on long and short-range planning, daily execution of a highly efficient operation that delivers industry leading performance and effective interdepartmental communications.
Main Purpose of the Role
The Manager, Dispatch / Chief Dispatcher is accountable for the quality of the dispatch release, flight following, and operational control processes, reporting to the Vice President of the Operations Control Center. The Manager, Dispatch / Chief Dispatcher will ensure that all flights are safely and efficiently planned, released and monitored in compliance with Federal Regulations and Company policy/procedures. The Manager, Dispatch / Chief Dispatcher will be responsible for regulatory training of Dispatchers and maintenance of the Dispatch Manual and Dispatcher Training Records. Additionally, The Manager, Dispatch / Chief Dispatcher will ensure Operational Control provided by Operations Managers and Dispatchers is maintained through manpower planning and construction of efficient work schedules. The Manager, Dispatch / Chief Dispatcher is responsible for liaison with the FAA, all regulatory requirements pertaining SAIs and EPIs in the dispatch and operational control areas.
Professional Experience Required
Must posses an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate
Minimum of two (2) years experience as an Aircraft Dispatcher in a complex Part 121 operation.
Three (3) years supervisory experience within an Operations Control Center department preferred.
Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations.
Strong knowledge of Meteorology.
Comprehensive knowledge of ATC procedures.
Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated organizational leadership and customer service skills.
Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Prefer bachelor degree.
Be willing to work rotating shifts, rotating days-off, weekends and holidays.
Read, write and speak English fluently.
Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.
Possess the entrepreneurial spirit of Virgin America.
Experience as an Operations Manager preferred
