The Assistant Director of Administration, Aviation assists in the daily operations of the DWC Aviation Center.


Responsibilities:Responsibilities
  • Executes long-term and minute-to-minute flight schedules, including aircraft, flight crews and students. Administers and oversees the flight scheduling website.
  • Directs daily oversight of the line crew to ensure that the maximum number of aircraft are available and prepared according to the daily flight schedule.
  • Schedules aircraft maintenance while minimizing the impact of the flight schedule.
  • Assists in hiring and training flight dispatch.
  • Reviews weather conditions to ensure ground and flight operations are conducted within established guidelines.
  • Creates and maintains operational procedures.
  • Develops and tracks various reports essential to DWC flight operations.
  • Manages vendor relationships in regards to flight scheduling, facilities, fueling and maintenance.
  • Provides assistance to students within the School of Aviation Sciences. Participates in school retention initiatives by maintaining productive contact with students and offering assistance.
  • Assists in coordinating special events.
Requirements & Additional Information:Requirements
  • An Associate’s degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • At least two years experience in flight or transportation logistics with customer service experience. Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations required. Dispatcher or pilot certification preferred.
  • Strong orientation towards customer service and responsiveness.
  • Efficiently utilize a personal computer and related software including Microsoft Office, departmental specific software and Internet proficiencies.
  • Possess strong interpersonal, influencing and collaboration skills. Experience in organizing and writing reports and presentations. Experience in presenting results to all levels of management.
  • Proven experience in solving problems
  • Experience prioritizing, planning and organizing tasks/activities to ensure timely completion of job responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of project completions on time and within budget or other constraints.
  • Proven record of multi-tasking and ability to handle a high pressure environment with
    significant timeline pressures.
  • Past history of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.

I am thinking class date is probably going to be around new years, or shortly afterward. Also United is said to be looking for 15 as well. A total of 30 in this wave. Good chance to go from regional that's for sure. If you're willing to deal with getting to and from the Willis (Sears) tower that is

  • FAA Dispatcher license required.
  • Must be proficient in understanding FAR parts 91 and 135/121. as they apply to operational control of aircraft and flight crews (i.e flight and duty time requirements)
  • International and Domestic flight planning experience a plus.
  • Computer skills including MS Excel, Word.
  • Able to work flexible shifts, days including weekends and holidays required.
  • Salary based on experience.

While not aircraft dispatch specific, there are regular postings for Airport Operations personnel that closely align with the knowledge, skills(z), and abilities usually possessed by aircraft dispatchers.


Just a thought for the job hunters out there. This information has been posted before, but it is worth reminding folk of the possibilities.
