Thanks! After getting a couple of low-ball offers, I'm very excited about this. Being able to have 2 full weeks off at a time is a huge plus, too. Course, that means I'll be putting in long hours the other 2 weeks, but lots of OT at $40+/hr adds up fast. Actually end up working more OT than straight time, which is part of the reason the pay is that high annually. But, when you think about it, I will literally only work half the year....lol.

Aircraft Dispatcher - Boise, Idaho
  • Responsible for coordination of company flight operations, including flight status (normal operations, potential delays, reroutes, and/or cancellations), crew assignments/scheduling, catering, station and ground handling, customs, etc.).
  • Primary point-of-contact for all aircraft operational activities of the Company.
  • Ensures that all flight operations are conducted in compliance with applicable CFRs and company procedures. Coordinates flow of operational information to all concerned personnel and stations.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate.
  • Two (2) years aviation experience required. Exceptions may apply.
  • United States Passport.

Now that PEOPLExpress owns the certificate, will the job be moving to Newport News?
 
Friend of mine works up there and he said the SOC will remain in BOI. He said its great experience if you are looking to jump to a major. 737's with lots of international flying.

JOB TITLE: Dispatcher

POSITION PURPOSE:
This position has the responsibility to authorize, regulate, and control flights according to government and Company regulations to ensure safety.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with all regulations and policies promulgated by both the Company and the FAA
- Analyze and evaluate meteorological information, such as speed and direction of winds, visibility, and presence of storms to determine potential safety of flights
- Monitor weather conditions over the route or routes in the assigned control area
- Compute fuel amounts needed according to type of aircraft and weather conditions expected
- Prepare a flight plan containing information relative to the conditions such as aircraft performance, route to be flown, minimum fuel required, maximum allowable weights, and the ATC flight plan
- Maintain current watch over all flights and update crews with changes in conditions
- Recommend flight plan alterations such as changing course, altitude, canceling stops, or taking extra fuel
- Maintain the current Flight Operations Manual
- Monitor the progress of each flight and issue information necessary to flight crews
- Delay or cancel flights if they cannot be operated safety

QUALIFICATIONS:
- In-depth knowledge of FARs with regard to air carrier operations
- Ability to read and analyze weather information and apply that knowledge with respect to flight operations
- Knowledge of aircraft performance and operational requirements of all aircraft types flown by the company
- Knowledge of general aviation terms and understanding of flight principles
- Knowledge of the National Airspace System with regard to Air Traffic Control
- At least 2 years of air carrier operations experience as a dispatcher or assistant dispatcher
- Knowledge of airline operating systems including dispatch, routing, and the ATC system
- FAA licensed Aircraft Dispatcher
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, analytical, and computer skills
