Yes, there is a story. Huge Loss for the JB pilot group.

He was a great guy, incredible advocate for our pilot group and a wonderful friend. We all miss him.

FurloughedAgain is a name that needs to be changed? I don't get it, I don't think JetBlue has furloughed any pilots in its history?

Missing the point here. FurloughedAgain was the handle of an outspoken, prolific, and fearsomely articulate pilot advocate who we recently lost, too suddenly and too young. His handle ought to be retired among JB pilots in his honor the same way jersey numbers are retired. There's no more meaning to his handle than that, but it's enough.
 
I'm sorry for the JB pilot groups loss but FurloughedAgain has had that screen name around here for well, well since the day things in our line of work changed forever. He was from the airline school of hard knocks even before 9-11.

I hope everything is well with his current gig, I thought he was going to stay for the long haul but if he is looking to go back to the 121 world you guys should hire him without hesitation.

I'm sorry to hear that, it's always sad when someone flies west, especially at a young age.

So there are two usernames here with "FurloughedAgain"? How can that be.

Nobody suggested that this boards "FA" should not hired at JB, or that he is not a stand up guy, excellent pilot, and friend. We all know that different people can have the same screen name on different forums. We are simply trying to "warn" this boards "FA" in a subtle way that he probably should not use this name around JB pilot circles,for the reason explained previously. And if he/she sees it fit, to honor JB's "FA" by also changing his screen name, that is his/her decision.

If he really wants to get hired at JB, we welcome him/her; just educate yourself on what the conditions are like and realize that the upgrade time now most likely approaches 12-14 years at a minimum...no CBA, Horrific Medical, below average compensation and retirement, etc. We do have a great group of pilots to fly with and good camaraderie, but that does not take care of: working on average more that other airline-pilots, your medical bills, your retirement shortfall, etc..

What a joke. That JetBlue analysis is TERRIBLE. Fleet count is wrong. Growth assumptions wrong. Says ZERO retirements over next 8-9 years, wrong. Doesn't account for attrition. Assumes junior captain is 50%, wrong.

I have been here just over 19 months. My relative seniority has moved up more than 9% in those 19 months. That was with very little attrition, as I only moved up 23 numbers from retirements and resignations. Certainly resignations will increase soon as some leave for legacy airlines. So, after 19 months, with very little attrition, I am almost 1/3 of the way to the junior captain spot. That was also before the company told Wall Street (just recently) that our growth rate until further notice will be more than 5%.

With all things considered, I expect to bypass junior captain at about the 5 year mark. Sooner if attrition really picks up. Not possible? How many years do our most junior captains have right now? And remember that those junior captains tenure includes the Great Recession, age 65, no legacy hiring and a slower growth rate than we are NOW telling our shareholders to expect.

You can dog on our benefits and compensation all you want. I will mostly agree. But you are either stupid or dishonest for saying upgrade will be 12-14 years, no matter how little Audrey knows about JetBlue.
